Stop by for breakfast every time we visit Madison. The quality of their food is consistently good, one of my favs is the Classic Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon and wheat toast, yummy stuff! The grits are off the chain as well, especially if you crumble some of the crispy bacon in there too!
The service is excellent and the atmosphere is really good as well. We’ve never left the restaurant without the manager telling us thanks for stopping by and to have a good day, I remember stuff like that, makes a lasting impression.
“Unfortunately this location was burned down, the newer photos are of the alternate location just down the street.
Good luck with the rebuild, looking forward to your returning to the original site!”

Heading east on I-20 we decided to check out Madison, GA. It is everything as advertised. While there we popped into Betty Gene's for breakfast and we are so glad we did. The Chicken and Waffles was outstanding and the Southern Breakfast was cooked to perfection. Their new digs, in an event center, has a great vibe. As good as the food was, the best part was our server, Kaci. She filled us in on why Madison is often referred to as one of the greatest small towns in America. You would think she was mayor, the way she promoted the town. When traveling I-20, between Atlanta and Aiken, don't miss this place.

Excellent breakfast to be had here! The omelets are nice and flurry, the breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the service was truly outstanding. Let me tell you, the collard greens were some of the best Ive ever had.Sitting outside on an overcast day was great and superb for people watching lol. Emma was so professional and sweet. We will return!

I will never eat here again. The place was swarming with flies inside. The chef was killing them with an insect killing gun and wiping the dead flies off the window sill with the same gloves he was preparing the food. The lady at the table next to us actually asked the waitress to tell the chef to change his gloves. We had breakfast and the food was cold. The grits bowl was hot but the grits were cold which leads me to believe it was just heated in the microwave. The omelet does not have the ingredients cooked into the eggs. The eggs are cooked separately and just folded over the cold ingredients. Very expensive for what you get.

Love stopping in Madison on our travels. We love Betty Gene’s. Has that old timey feel with a cool counter which is where we typically like to sit. Had a delicious veggie scramble and a Madtown omelette. Good food, great service and friendly staff greeting us as we come in and as we leave. See you soon!

Went for breakfast some time ago and had to move because of ants on the table.
Went there for lunch about three weeks ago and had poor waiter service. Do not plan to go back?

We had a wonderful experience at Betty Gene's beginning with a kind greeter at the door who seated us within seconds followed by a polite server who was very attentive.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed.
Many thanks to all!
This place is so cute and adorable sitting along the town square. Everyone was very nice and the food was GREAT. Yummy brunch.

We drove from Atlanta for a nice and quiet lunch, and regretably, much was a disappointment. Not very welcoming service -- it was as if the staff were being interrupted and ready to go home. The food and beverages were not fresh or complete. When we inquired why the selection did not include all the ingredients listed on the menu, we were told there were no eggs, even though we also ordered the eggs benedict. That certainly had eggs, though the sauce was not very well prepared. The restaurant entrance, where we needed to park, was not ADA accessible, making it a significant challenge to enter. The restaurant doesn't seem to care once we brought it to their attention. The interior was clean and relatively attractive, so a good thing. It was just not a kind and positive experience overall, and that was a shame. We will not return, but feel the restaurant owner should extend a gesture for the unsatisfactory food. No telephone number listed on their website, oddly.

Had a lovely time with the sweetest waitress at Betty Gene’s. There is convenient parking right behind the restaurant if you’re like me and parking on the busy square makes you anxious. We had a party of four adults and three kids and all enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend the eggs benedict.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a couple of years, we love it. Last visit was in February, went today and prices have increased 40 percent . A 1/4 into my breakfast I found a black hair in my eggs. They credited 70 percent of my food which I didn’t eat ….really? Seriously not sure we will be back. The food was lukewarm, such a disappointment! Not to emotion we drive 60 miles just to spend our money with you and the bakery.
Mad hospitality you should really evaluate how you handle things like this. The kitchen made a mistake it happens, but handle it better!

The food was just this side of awful. My wife's burger and my fried chicken sandwich were both fully cooked at least five minutes before they came off the grill our out of the fryer. Service was very slow for two simple sandwiches. The burger was ordered with cheese but had none and had to go back to add it. My iced tea was water. Not lightly flavored tea, I mean water. The french fries were fantastic. Should have eaten them and thrown everything else away.

The place was busy, but Casey was attentive with a pleasant attitude. The food was delicious!! The menu was varied. Since we knew the owner's parents, we appreciated the family items used in the decor and the name of the restaurant.

We came here on a Saturday and were able to get a table quickly. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated. The service was slow and our food took longer than expected to come out. The food was not as appetizing as the price suggested. I ordered the Saturday blue plate which is avocado toast with egg, greens, and tomatoes and cucumbers. The plate was overcrowded with greens and drowned out the taste of the toast and eggs. The coffee was old; we’ve had instant coffee that tastes better. If we lived in the area, I would maybe consider returning, but it left a lot to be desired on the first try.
