Quality of food has gone down.
Good soul food. Great customer service, many dish to choose from.
While traveling, we stopped in Smyrna to gas. We were getting hungry and since we had several hours of travel left, we decided to grab a bite to eat. We checked around and decided to have dinners at Folks Southern Kitchen. It was a good decision. Folks is not fancy, but has a nice homey feel about it.
Folks used to be voted as to having the best fried chicken in Atlanta. Those days have long passed and Folks is now in near obscurity with only 2 or 3 locations left. The chicken was cooked fresh but the seasoning was skimpy. The rest of the food tasted like it had been left out for a while.
Worst service ever. Never even got to order food. The manager was working himself to death trying to make orders, take in person to-go orders, answer the phone and handle online orders. Phone was ringing off the hook. No one answered, I stood there 30 minutes and no one took my order. Myself and another guy finally just left. What made me most sad is the place wasn't packed. Just piss poor management.
We just came for dinner and the food was super delicious. Real Southern Cooking! Thank you Faith for serving us.
It was always a pleasant experience until we had Yolanda for a server. She was rude and argumentative when the issues I had with the service was addressed. She offered no apologies for her tone but explained to me that she was old enough to be my mother... which clearly she was. That does not excuse her behavior (or her awful wig). This was the first and hopefully the last time I had the pleasure of dealing with the poor woman. I enjoy the food for the most part so i will offer 2 stars for this bad experience and leave my overall rating as pretty good.
Country fried steak and gravy. You might not be po any more but still so southern cooking good. I've been eating at Folks( formerly Po folks) since about 1976 on Peachtree and. location in Chamblee. So long that I've probably had a bad meal before. I just can't remember it. Now like this review and go get some folks. I recommend the country fried steak ,double helping. Also one of my favorites, the fried chicken breast. Fried green tomatoes, turnip greens with vinegar pepper sauce drowning them. I have tried just about everything on the menu over the years.
EXCELLENT friendly server. Great flavor of Pizza Folks menu and pricing.
It's not the same as it was "back in the day" when they first opened. I used to LOVE Folks, and are there all the time. Now, it's just ok for every now and then, but not on a regular basis. Although the service is good, and they go out of their way to please you, it's still just ok. I WILL go back again, as we have a Sunday brunch group, and one of our members really likes it, but I don't choose this place when it's my week to decide where we go.

Great food. Reasonable prices. Friendly employees. Nice atmosphere.
The food and service is awesome! The peach muffins are delish! Michelle is our fave server!
I'm writing this review for a friend because he is too sick to do it. Ate lunch at folks this afternoon and basically regurgitated his whole meal on the drive home. He said the chicken was dry, greens were watery and awful and corn nuggets tasted of old grease. Thank goodness I didn't partake. Please be careful where you eat everybody!
The food was Awesome great customer service .( I had the meatloaf) Truly good southern food! This is my 1st time at Folks but I must say it will not be my last. Next time I'm done from Texas I will be given these "Folks" another visit !!!☺ God bless America!
The price for the amount of food you get is fair. The food was good. Everything came out hot. Nice little place
