We recently visited the City Barbeque location in McDonough, GA for the first time and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with both service and food quality.
We arrived at approximately 6:40 PM and there was one customer ahead of us in line. An employee was working further down the counter assembling orders but did not acknowledge the customer at the front of the line for roughly ten minutes. During that time, the line behind us continued to grow and none of the employees working the counter acknowledged waiting customers.
Eventually, the employee working the drive-through came over and began taking orders for dine-in guests, including ours. There was no explanation or acknowledgment of the delay. Our order was finally placed at 6:53 PM.
Shortly after that, the employee who appeared to be responsible for the front counter slowly walked away from the area and went into the back. She never returned to assist the customers waiting in line. After another fifteen minutes, the drive-through employee again stepped in to begin assembling dine-in orders. At one point, two of the employees preparing food had to stop what they were doing and help her put together orders.
In total, we waited approximately 45 minutes before receiving our food.
Unfortunately, the quality and accuracy of the order were just as disappointing as the service.
My wife ordered the Texas Sausage and received only a sausage link with no bun. The sausage itself appeared dried out and far from fresh. My daughter ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was extremely dry and lacked flavor to the point that she was unable to eat it. I ordered the Brisket Chili Potato, which did not resemble the menu description and appeared as though it had been sitting for quite some time. The flavor was very bland and the presentation was poor.
This was our first time trying City Barbeque, and our expectations were clearly not met. In our area of Georgia there are many BBQ options, and the food quality and customer service we typically experience elsewhere far exceed what we encountered during this visit.

if I could give negative stars for service, i would. no one greeted us, we stood at the counter for 10 minutes until someone acknowledged us to take our order. ordered texas sausage, pulled pork sandwich, loaded baked potato and collard greens. we waited 30 mins to get our order. ridiculous service. this was our 1st and last time at this restaurant, I don't even care what the food tastes like, bad service is a deal breaker!
