The challenge has been made. And Leo‘s, best known as a great breakfast spot, has not only moved just outside McDonough’s square, has called out all the finest dinner spots in McDonough. Yes, they should all feel ill at ease. Although Leo’s Café is not a diner,
for those fans of northern style Diners that are known for clean bright environments and great meals at very reasonable prices, Leo’s dinner service would be The Flagship.
My wife and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer, the fried fish and shrimp entrée, and Wednesday’s steak dinner entrée. The dip was very good and freshly made served with freshly made pita chips that were crunchy on the outside and still warm and chewy on the inside. The fried fish and shrimp entrée was fresh, seasoned well, fried to perfection and served with steak fries. The steak entrée consisted of a 6 ounce steak served on a bed of the best mashed potatoes I’ve had in a long time and gravy. My steak was served and ordered as medium, well seasoned and melt in your mouth tender.
The string beans were fresh and grilled, but still had the snap. I just had to add salt to taste. All dishes were plated well and nice size portions. The banana pudding was amazing. The pudding was heavier than expected, but with the large and plentiful pieces of banana and cookie crumbles it was a winner. The brownie and ice cream dish was tasty but small servings and the brownie appeared to be store-bought.
My bill including a 20% tip was still under $100. If you find a better meal in McDonough, let me know and if the price can be beat, let me know that too.
Thanks for the experience Leo’s Café

I can not say enough good things about this place! Great meal, great service. We are traveling and have been eating out often. Most of our meals have been horrible, you guys made our day. This place should get 6 stars! Thank you Leo's Cafe for a great experience.

Leo’s Cafe is amazing! The breakfast was so good — everything came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The service was great too — everyone was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in McDonough. I’ll be back for sure!

Tried something new at the new Leo’s Cafe. Yum! I usually get pancakes and bacon. Today I tried the Eggs Benedict Blackstone. It was good but I didn’t get my pancake fix so JF a few bites of my husband’s.

Leo's has good food and excellent service. Two things I want to mention. 1st there is a fee if you use a credit card. If you add on things like lettuce, tomatoes they charge you $2.00 extra. No big deal just want people to be aware.

Tl;dr, Save some money, go to the much better Gritz on the Square, Waffle House, or even a drive thru.
My husband and I had been looking forward to trying this place because we had heard so many good things. We decided to give their breakfast a try. It was not super busy when we were there, but the way we were “shown” to our table was odd. We were told to just walk to the back and find the empty booth. Mind you, the couple ahead of us and everyone else was walked to their seats. Fine, we won’t worry about that, maybe the service and food will make up for that faux pas.
We got our drinks fairly quickly but barely had time to look at the menu before the waitress walked up. We told her we needed a few more minutes. Didn’t know that would mean never again, and we watched as she helped other tables even making eye contact with me a few times. Finally after 15 mins of just sitting someone else finally came up. The young man seemed annoyed when he took our order and cut me off to ask another waitress if they had one of the items I was ordering. Again, trying to still give the benefit of a doubt, service might not be stellar but SURELY the food is good. I mean, that’s what we are really here for right?
My husband ordered chicken and waffles with a side of their home fries with cheese and gravy. I ordered their specialty eggs Benedict with a crab cake and a side of hash browns and a beef empanada. I should’ve taken the hint when the waiter asked, “is it okay that the hash brown is in a disk?” I said umm sure, kinda taken aback by the question. Did you really just ask if it was okay that your hash browns aren’t freshly made, but they are basically what they serve at McDonalds?!? Again, fine. It’s just the hash browns. Surely everything else is made fresh? RIGHT?!? WRONG!!!!!
Speed is definitely what they should pride themselves on, not food. We literally got our food in 5 mins but the reason being IT WAS MOSTLY FLASH FROZEN AND FRIED CRAP! Presentation was also not a bonus as it was just slopped on the plate. Everything tasted bland. People love going here and it must be that they don’t know any better. Waffle House is a much better meal because at least their waffles are made to order along with everything else. The only item that was cooked fresh was the eggs on my eggs Benedict but even they weren’t really great. So so SO disappointed. We paid our bill and tipped like normal and left wondering what the heck was that?!??
Now, I am ALL about local businesses and want more of them in this area, but come on!! We cannot be serious!?! There is NO REASON that the items should be not cooked fresh. It almost feels like they are joking and laughing at their patrons for believing this food is good. We deserve better businesses and shouldn’t let a business slide just because it is locally owned. This felt like one of those businesses that Gordon Ramsey visits to help.
I don’t know if we will be back. I am usually all about giving a business a few tries, but this unfortunate breakfast does not instill confidence in anything else they make. Save some money, go to the much better Gritz on the Square, Waffle House, or even a drive thru.

I can't find anything negative to say about Leo's Cafe. When the wife and I arrived here I saw how packed it was inside. I was thinking we'd be waiting forever for a table and forever to get our meal. I was blown away that we got a table right away and our food came less than ten minutes after we ordered. The customer service is phenomenal! Family members of Leo were so attentive and not in an annoying way. Both our meals were plenty good and we had to take some home because their portions are more than adequate. My hats off to the cooks who made our meal perfect. My wife and I will be going back Sunday for their amazing breakfast meals. It'll be our first try at that and I'm sure it'll be just as good as our lunch we had.

Outstanding, home fries brought me in. Very professionally run. Food was fresh cooked perfectly. Constant warm ups on coffee. Lots of help and we'll trained. Very clean and organized. Loved it.

The only reason this place is popular is because people know no better. It has to be. It was bland, eggs on eggs Benedict cooked far too long, little seasoning on all the food, smoked salmon silver wasn't trimmed and the Leo's bowl had one flavor to the whole thing. Not to mention a roach decided to visit the table and it didnt run. It walked. Yes I got a picture of it. We did not make a big deal or anything. Just the fact it happened shortly after a grand opening is appalling. I encourage everyone to please, go somewhere else. It is not worth the hype.

Have been here a few times and never had an issue. Today - was extremely disappointing. Arrived and was told it would be about 15 min wait. Told to wait outside. My hubby and I sat at ben h at the door. People kept going in. Others coming out. 30mins later I go inside to see status. I ask if she forgot is and she checks her list where clearly she did. She pauses then says she tried to call us. Which was an utter LIE as the phone was in my hand the entire time with me on it texting PLUS we were right at the door where she told us to sit!!
I understand mistakes happen but the LIE to cover yourself and not take accountability really set me off. There were tables open , too. I could see them right behind her! She didn’t offer to seat us, no offer to make it right. Just stood there!
I will never be back
