Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse

Oh My Goodness!!! The worse experience ever! Yesterday, 9/9/24, I and a friend visited Tokyo Japanese steakhouse for dinner. I ordered the 21 piece sashimi and asked for rice on the side and spicy salmon roll. The rice was not the sticky rice that usually come with a sushi order. In fact they didn’t know what sticky rice was. The 21 piece sashimi fish was previously frozen and tasted soggy, the cosmopolitan drink I ordered was weak and I didn’t like it when a woman walked in with our server whose name is Kelsey and said “ Kelsey was confused about the drink I ordered.” I thought that comment was insulting and undermining Kelsey self esteem. Yes, it did seem as though Kelsey was new to the position but the comment made about her understanding the kind of drink I ordered was below the belt. Kelsey was the only one who cared enough to apologize for the food I had to send back and she was the only one who made sure our experience at the restaurant was ultimately a good one. The appetizers were really good and Kelsey was awesome. I hope I remembered our servers (Kelsey) name. Thank you Kelsey you made a bad experience bearable. However, I will not be coming back!

This place is an absolute Southside hidden gem. Who knew we had such a great hibachi experience in our backyards? No more going into the city for this experience. I can now get this great food with great service close to home with no traffic. Can't wait to return.

I got the chicken and shrimp hibachi dinner and the shrimp was perfect. The chicken was overcooked and wayyyy too tough tho. Some of the lettuce in my salad was wilted, and the fried rice was bland. I did order it for takeout so maybe that's why the quality was underwhelming, but nonetheless it wasn't worth $23.

Best sushi, sashimi and hibachi in town. Also great place to have drinks...can you say Long Island Ice Tea?

I’ve eaten at this restaurant for YEARS! My husband & I went 6/30/24 to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Only to be disappointed.
First, I’ll say the hibachi chef was great.
The server was “lost”! We’d have to yell to get his attention. The chef had to go find him once for us. We were just requesting the usuals such as refills, napkins, etc.
The restaurant has changed their soup by adding spiral noodles and cutting 90% back on the onion, mushrooms, & flavor.
They don’t do much entertaining like in prior years. Which is fine. We’ve seen it.
But, we were just disappointed in the lack of flavor in the fried rice and soup. They’ve also thinned out and changed their dark dipping sauce to the negative. We were just disappointed and will be looking for a new / different hibachi restaurant to visit.

The food was really good, it took some time to get to us. I enjoyed the steak and the sushi the most. The rice was nice and hot as well.

This use to be a go to spit for me and my family, but recently things have drastically gone downhill. There was MOLD on the noodles in my girlfriends soup and my salad was wilted and room temperature at best! Even after disclosing the issues to the restaurant and stating that we were leaving, they still insisted we pay for the soup and salad! There so many other hibachi restaurant around this area. Don't risk your health eating at this one!

Don’t get any of the sushi. We ordered 4 different rolls and they all tasted gross. Fish is not fresh at all. Ever had buffet sushi? Tastes like that. Chewy and bland. Service was nice.
