Gosh we wanted to love this place - a much needed new addition to Richmond Hill. Our first visit was great - food, service, drinks all above average for the area.But on our second visit I called earlier in the day to make a reservation. The person I spoke to said none needed, just walk in. We checked the hours online and saw they were open til 9. We arrived just after 830 to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday with a cocktail and quick bite. The restaurant was empty, and the host told us their last seating was at 830.Sad for the staff that probably wants to make a living on a Friday night. Sad for a new restaurant with terrible hours (no posted info on last seating on the website, paper menu we took a photo of the first time we were there, or printed on their door with the other hours.)Shame on y’all. We won’t be returning and do not recommend anyone bothers.

scnitzel is very very good and the pork chop is excellent. I've had it three times. these are all I have tried but highly recommend this restaurant

We ate here last night for the first time. Everything was great! Makenna was our bartender and server. Her service and recommendations were outstanding! We had the tomato stack and steak frites. Both were delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. Also, the peach margarita was chefs kiss! We'll definitely be back!

Nice little place to eat in Richmond Hill. Blackened red fish with grits were great. Also the fried green tomato stack and Mac and cheese were really good. Great service always. Lunch menu prices are a little less expensive for same foods. Have eaten here 4 times and it's been great each time.

Everything was delicious from our Peach margarita, chicken fried steak, blackened fish & grits to our strawberry cheesecake with chocolate crust & drizzleKid-friendliness: There was a father/daughter dance this evening and lots of dads and children having dinner beforehand

Went for the first time last night and it was AMAZING! Our Server, Karen was very attentive, not only to our table but the others as well. Karen was very knowledgeable about the food options and even recommended her favorite dishes. Needless to say, everything she recommended was as advertised! We will be returning! ?

Firstly, Grit & Grain is a terrific restaurant. Entrees take a few minutes to deliver because they are made to order and the two that we tried, the Southern Fried Schnitzel and the heritage pork chop, were each absolutely delicious. Secondly, this is also a bakery, as such, order the bread basket while waiting for your entree ... scrumptious. Thirdly, this is a bar, and the bartender is an artist; I had a rye-based Manhattan that was unequalled anywhere that I have sampled on the east coast. Finally, our waitress was an absolute delight and made the entire evening pleasurable, which fit the overall ambience. I am recommending this restaurant to everyone.
