We had dinner here our first night of our stay. Our server Costace was very friendly and made some great recommendations on the crab hush puppies and bread pudding dessert. The bartender Debbie made me an amazing eggnog martini. Overall it exceeded our expectations!

They should really focus on improving their food quality. I’d say the food is barely average. Salad dressings taste like gross bottled ranch (laden with chemicals) you’d get from a plastic bottle at Food Lion. Things need to be made from scratch…breads, dressings and everything else. They also need to broaden menu.

This whole development IMO struggles with food (all the restaurants).

The cafe is included. They need to offer freshly squeezed juices and fresh organic protein smoothies. They need all organic foods and beverages.

Croft doesn’t even sell lattes or espresso…terrible. The cafe makes awful lattes. The yogurt parfait at the cafe is as small as you can imagine (literally 3-4 bites and it’s gone). You can’t even get a smoothie or freshly squeezed juice there or anywhere at this expensive resort. Wake up people. It’s time to reinvest in better chefs, better options, and better drink and food quality. I’m paying $700 per night for a room. I expect better food and beverage options at every single restaurant.

We arrived at 7:50 for an 8:00 reservation. Despite having plenty of available seating, we were told we had to wait until our reservation time to be seated- no big deal, we understood that could be staffing related. We were seated and immediately ordered our appetizer, and meal since it was a later dinner. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer (mac and cheese) and an hour and 40 minutes for our meal. We didn't order anything exceptional- salmon and a burger, and it was mediocre at best. This was also my birthday dinner (which was noted in our reservation) and that was not acknowledged at all. Later in the night (11:45), the restaurant called our room at the hotel and woke us up to inquire about a group leaving an unpaid bill. They told us a group left our room number on their ticket, but a different last name. Again, not a huge deal but we felt it was unprofessional to wake up a hotel guest at a resort over a matter that did not concern us and could have been addressed in the morning.

The only positive was our server, Marcus, who went above and beyond to make our lengthy experience pleasant. Thank you Marcus!!!

Prices were high, servers were scarce, flies were everywhere, food was mediocre at best. We had 3 meals during our stay. Considering they had very few hotel/restaurant guest during our stay, the service should be great. Many of the menu items were not available, both food and bar items. We asked for a side of bread at dinner and our server said, “we don’t have bread.” What? The BLT was dry, the breakfasts were cold (and we were the only ones in the restaurant). The mac and cheese was good as was the onion tart. The facility is amazing and beautiful, but help must be hard to find for this rather remote resort.

Over this weekend, we ate at 2 other restaurants at McLemore. This one was by far the worst. Service was particularly poor, and a bad reflection on an otherwise high-quality stay at this resort. We specifically requested a patio table on the reservation and the greeter tried to seat us indoors, then gave us a hard time about wanting to sit on the patio although there were several vacant tables. It took 1 hour 45 mins to get thru starters and entrees, and the restaurant was barely even half full. We rarely saw our waiter and he was really pushing us to buy alcoholic drinks. I've never been asked so often if I'm sure I wouldn't like something more from the drink menu. I'm not sure who designed the waitstaff table assignments but all of the waiters seemed to have one table in each of the 4-5 different seating zones which had them running around all over the place...tiring for them and as a patron, it was impossible to flag down your waiter. I was given a dirty napkin, asked for a clean one. 15 mins later, still no napkin. Asked again, was brought a napkin, and it was THE EXACT SAME DIRTY ONE! I simply don't find this poor level of service acceptable in a resort of this quality. Our experience at the other resort restaurants was far better, especially at Auld Alliance. We may return to McLemore but will certainly NOT return to Croft.

The Croft has a beautiful, serene view and an exceptional aesthetic, but the service is beyond poor for the quality of the establishment and the prices. We’ve been three times now and never had an experience like this, though. We placed our order, asked for extra butter and never saw our waitress again. She did not check on us and we saw many customers irate and dealing with the same thing we were dealing with. The only redeeming grace was that the host, Delani. She was understanding. That made it better, but I would not recommend going again until they hire proper servers and fix the quality of their service. Great food and atmosphere, however.

The menu had a good variety of interesting choices. To start, we had the smoky mac n cheese and lump crab hush puppies. The mac and cheese was just ok until you got one of the rare pieces of bacon, which really elevated the flavor. The lump crap hush puppies are a little harder to describe. They were definitely not the consistency of a traditional hush puppy...they were softer? More moist? For my main course, I had the flat-iron steak. The steak was just ok. I would have appreciated a more seasoned meat. The chimichurri was not enough to elevate the flavor for me. We also had the beef short ribs with grits. This seemed an interesting pairing, but was actually pretty tasty with the vinegrette reduction.

We ate outside and the temperature was for the most part very nice. It actually started to get a little chilly later on in the night. The mountain view while dining was picturesque and made the experience that more enjoyable. Definitely recommend.

We also dined here for brunch and had the French Toast. This entree was a miss for me. The menu suggested that the bread was "thick-sliced" brioche, but the slices seemed quite thin to me. The flavor of the french toast was quite good, but I'm not a fan of a more custardy textured toast. It rings as soggy to me. I understand there are those who like this, but it's just not my preference. I would order again.

Overall, the experience was great and the food was ok. If the food was on par with the experience, it would be perfect.

Enjoyed the drive up Lookout Mountain. You do have to valet park even if you are just there for dining purposes. The property is absolutely incredible. The details in the design and decor are beautiful. We sat at a corner table in the sun, so it felt like we were outside but not in the heat. The food was delicious. We walked around the property and enjoyed the view. All of the hotel staff were welcoming and helpful.

My group of friends had a reservation for lunch at 11:45 on a weekday, which is the time we arrived. The entire restaurant was empty. Not even a staff member in sight. It felt awkward. After a few minutes a wait staff member arrived and said to sit anywhere we wanted. Grabbed a table by the windows. Great view. Nice to see they put rubber feet on the bottom of the chairs, as previous experiences there were extremely loud with the chairs scraping the tile floor. Fast, friendly service followed. We all had the BLFGT sandwiches which came with fries. Delicious, all around. As we were celebrating a birthday, we would have ordered a dessert to share. The waitress brought our check before even asking if we wanted dessert.

The Croft was fantastic, and Mclemore did not disappoint with an amazing sunset. The cool breeze made the evening that much better. The resort is new - and once discovered, it will be a top destination in the SE. I'm looking forward to hosting guests here in the near future.

Although we made a reservation well in advance, the hostess said she had no record of it. She was still able to seat us but it took a few minutes and we were not greeted for quite some time by a server. The food is good, but overpriced and takes a very long time. There is also not much menu selection. We ordered 2 appetizers and an entree and it was almost an hour before any food was brought to our table. The two tables next to us remained dirty and unbussed the entire time we were at the restaurant on a busy Saturday night which was surprising to me for an upscale hotel.

The food was really good. We had the hush puppies, grouper bites, steak, and apple pie. Everything was great. We sat outside on the patio, there is plenty of shade and great atmosphere.

We dined on the patio on a Tuesday night while staying at the resort. The patio was great with wonderful views....the service was very good with dishes arriving in a timely manner and our server was very attentive.... We both had the smash burgers which were delicious. We forgo appetizers in order to have dessert which did not disappoint...the campfire chocolate chip banana bread pudding with ice cream was excellent....
