Great staff, even better meat and greet!

They do not follow their own rules, starting with their hours. I got there 20 minutes before closing time, which is published everywhere as 6PM on Wednesdays. They locked the door and turned off the open sign as soon as they saw me park in front of the store. They have a very heavy set of rules to shop here, but they don't hold their end of the deal.

I've heard that Mitch's offers good quality meat. Unfortunately, he has an unusual way of doing business. He prefers that customers order in advance. He also insists that only one customer be in his shop at a time. Mitch certainly has the right to run his business however he chooses. What does this mean for new customers who might like to see the product before buying? Or for customers who want to know what's available and good right now? I'll often walk into my butcher and buy what really looks good.I encourage you to have a look at his website. He has two pages of instructions for how to be an acceptable customer of Mitch's Meat Market. As I said, it's his decision to make. It's also my decision to go elsewhere.

I do not shop here anymore because of their weird ordering system. When I go to a butcher I want to pick out a few things and look around, not call ahead and make deal in the parking lot.The only person that wants this is Mitch. I understand he’s not the best at customer service but at least let people in your shop. Hire another butcher and pay them enough to stay. You guys used to have lunch but that’s been gone for a while.

Called the shop looking for sushi grade salmon for a special occasion. I wasn't informed about the strange ordering system. When I arrived I was informed that only one person at a time was allowed in and there were two ahead of me. I was fine with that. However, 45min. later we were still waiting when another woman walked right in. She started to come back out but they let her stay. Didn't acknowledge me at all.

I was vsiiting my kids in Roswell. Looked up butcher shops and chose Mitch's. I read the rules online and picked up my meat. No issues. However, it was a thouroughly exhausting experience and in my mind completely unnecessary. With all the online high end meat purveyors (I'm an "internet cowboy") there is no reason to purchase meat at Mitch's. In my opinion, the benefit of a local butcher is spotenaety, ease of purchase, camaraderie and sense of community. Mitch's possesses none of these. His meats are good quality. His customer service is not. He reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the soup N*z!......except with meat. "No meat for you!" I won't be back because it's not worth the aggravation.

My husband and I drove by Mitch's today and decided to stop by. It seems unlike most, we actually stopped to read the sign before we went in, which clearly explains the rules and the operations of the business. I can understand how it would be off-putting to some, but if you simply do what the signs say, you will be taken through a wonderful exclusive customer service experience. We were greeted by a woman outside that went over how the process works. Thankfully, we came on a less busy day so we didn't have to wait long. We were advised to go to the wine/beer shop (Pinkies?) next door for a pint while we waited and Mitch's employee came and got us when she was ready for us. We met Mitch and we picked out what we wanted. He provided suggestions on how to cook and he even seasoned our cuts himself. SUPER HIGH GRADE MEATS AND FISH. I had the halibut and crabcakes and my husband had the NY strip. Let me tell you... no added seasoning or anything was needed. It was perfectly seasoned and so unbelievably fresh for not living near a coast! We immediately decided we will be getting our Thanksgiving turkey from here. This is our new go to for sure. Just read the sign, people. Mitch knows his stuff! And Star is a delight.

Waited outside in 90* weather with my 1 year old child. Because he won't allow more than 1 customer in.

Mitch is an excellent Butcher. Better quality meats than the grocery stores. Once you understand his process and the best times to go it's a home run. His choice ribeyes are the best. Sausage is the best. Scottish salmon is the best.

The last time I was here was at the start of Covid. Prior to that, I thought that the best item was the crab cakes. Truly outstanding! Otherwise the meat was nothing you couldn't get at Fresh market for less money. So during covid, there was a change to the limiting of customers in the store which for a small space with older people made sense. I waited about 30-45 mins. But inside there were no masks on the workers, so why the wait? After I was allowed in for a moment, the guy that was the "door monitor" escorted me back out saying that he made a mistake and they were not ready for me. Ok, went out and waited for 15 mins more. When I came back in the wife stood in front of the freezer and demanded to know what I wanted. I wanted to look at what was available in the ready made food! I felt like I was treated like a thief casing the freezer for gold ice cubes! I had been in the store several times before the start of the pandemic and was shocked at how I was treated on this time. I told my husband that I would never return. He loved the crab cakes so much that he went back with my daughter and they waited an hour before he finally left. We have not been back since then. I am disappointed to see that from the comments the business model has not changed in years and rather than them taking introspection, there is constant fighting with critics some. Maybe they have enough customers to ignore their old and potential clients? But to quote Walt Disney, "It is easier to keep a good customers than to find new ones."

Terrible experience, don't even try to walk in. Arrogance in all the rules. Very childish grammar and rules just to shop here. It's a boutique butcher. Lady of the house was rude, and escorted us out to read the rules, when no one was in the shop. Tried to look at their website to see how to preorder, but it was just the same rules again. Plenty of other places to buy quality meat and have a good customer experience. They should put one of those jewelry store door locks if they don't want people coming in.Waiting for Mitch to reply on Yelp (which he'll most likely do), probably what he does rather than cutting meat. How about hire another person to help?

For a businessman who says, "Negative energy and malice is not accepted here", Mitch certainly emanates negative energy and malice towards anyone with suggestions and criticisms in these comments. I came to the website in search of quality, fresh seafood. I, for one, cannot afford the meat and seafood sold here. If I could, I would not purchase from this establishment. Seemingly the store sells quality products at exorbinant prices. Good on ya, Mitch. You have found your niche and your market. Some customers enjoy their shopping experience. I will continue to give my money to my local butcher who is a genuinely wonderful gentleman who would never be rude as you enjoy being behind your keyboard. English is not his first language but his grammar and spelling is perfect as compared to yours as written below.

Wow… very rude.My first time walking into the store I was literally escorted out by the lady with her hand on my shoulder guiding me back outside because I missed an elaborate sign on the door. You’d think it would have been… “hey, first time here? yeah let me explain how we operate” all in a friendly manner.Too bad. We just moved to the area and had high hopes.

I was physically pushed from the doorway and yelled at while trying to figure out how to get my name in the line. I would never go back or recommend a place that physically accosts customers who don’t immediately figure out the confusing system.
