First off, let's start with the plus side. The food at Mellow Mushroom is consistently tasty. Serving sizes are excellent. We like the atmosphere. It is straightforward, colorful and laid back.Unfortunately, both of these pluses were overwhelmed by the dreadful service at every level. Here are some examples from an otherwise long list. For starters, there was clearly no emphasis on serving guests at the same table at the same time. At our table of four, I received my entree first (most of it, anyway). I ordered a bowl of soup as an appetizer and a pizza as the entree. The pizza arrived first followed by the soup about five minutes later, after reminding the server that she had forgotten it. Five minutes later, my wife's dinner arrived. About five minutes after that, our two guests received their orders, just as I was finishing my meal.Our server made occasional appearances with long gaps in between. One of our guests ordered two identical cocktails. We noticed that they appeared to be two different drinks. One was noticeably darker and stronger than the other. When we asked the server if there was a mistake, she assured us that they were the same drink but they were made by two different bartenders who made their drinks differently. Bar revenue can make or break a restaurant operation. A well managed restaurant provides proper training and strives for consistency. Too much obooze in the glass causes too little profit at the end of the day.As we were finishing our dinner, our server asked us if we were going to be ordering any more, we told her that we were just going to finish our drinks and were otherwise ready to leave. About ten minutes later, she reappeared and asked us if we were ready for our checks! Yes, I thought to myself, we are still as ready as we were ten minutes ago!After another 10+ minute interval, our checks finally arrived. We had asked for separate checks which were provided. Suspicious of the totals on the checks, I waited for the server to return and after another 5-10 minutes, took the checks to the cashier and asked to see the itemized statement. The server had charged me for our guest's meals and charged them for ours. The cashier corrected the mistake after several minutes.I decided to bring the events of the evening to the manager’s attention. After asking the cashier if I could speak with the manager, I waited another five minutes before asking her again, at which point she told me that the manager must still be busy in the kitchen! I’ve read a few other reviews where disappointed customers asked to talk to the manager without success. It is quite common for employees to follow the examples that their leaders set. This could be the case at SSI Mellow Mushroom.I was hoping to end our two month stay on lovely St. Simons Island on a high note. Unfortunately, that did not happen tonight.Parking: Challenging!

Mellow mushroom is amazing! The pizza reminds me of New York Pizza. My mom and I were really really hungry. We were so happy that we opened up the box when we just got into the car and we tore it up. We had the Holy Shiitake. I believe the pizza should have more mushrooms on it. Then we love watching the chef make the pizza.

went with the family got seated quickly they were not very busy. server was awful. took 20 minutes to come over to table. at this point we ordered appetizers and dinner with drinks. server forgot us again and when I went to the bar to get the drinks myself I was told they were ready but not carried to table because of missing reciept. my wife's beer was flat. food was good place is very nice. It will be a long time before I return

I had a take out order so I can’t review anything but the quality! I’m from Ohio, I’ve had many wings since being here! Today, I ordered the cloud 9!!!!!!!! Simply DELICIOUSLY, AMAZING! I was asked how do I rate? A 9.5! Excellent! I can’t wait to try more of your food!

Update: sat for 45 minutes for a pizza that never came. Watched people who came in after us get their food. Was told they had to change paper n several orders were lost. Did not seem concerned. Did not offer to comp in any way. So sad how this place has deteriorated . Server did his best but management was disgraceful. Avoid this place until they get their act together . Have gone here for years and it's so sad to see their decline. Original Post:This place has changed Big Time. Used to have the best Happy Hour on the Island. Doubled it's prices and dropped specials. Used to be a Happening Place. Now just a tourist trap for families with screaming kids.

I used to work at a Mellow Mushroom in Paducah Kentucky and as I was in Brunswick GeorgiaI found there was a mMellowMushroom on St Simon Island so I went out there we ordered a Shitaki Pizza plus chicken and bacon on the pizza and 20 wings and it was all delicious
