Sal’s Neighborhood Pizzeria

We paid $32 for a veggie calzone - more than their large veggie pizza. When I asked if there was a mistake they told me they don’t have the Veggie D’Lite calzone so they add all same veggies and add $2/each. They should have told me when I ordered.

This place has great food. Their pizza is hand made and placed in a real stone pizza oven. I had no wait time to be seated but by the time I had finished my meal, there was a short wait. Food servers were friendly and checked on me often. It has a family friendly atmosphere.

I really miss eating here. Whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to visit. The food is out of this world good! The staff is always incredible. 5 out of 5 no doubts.

We love coming here annually but there service leaves allot to be desired. They close at 9p and we called ahead to tell them of a big party (9) and no answer. We arrived at 8:30p and we were turned away?? Guess they do not need the business

I called this place at 830 to place a pick up order. Meaning I go and pick it up. They told me that their Togo orders are sold out. They guy was an idiot. I can go there and dine in, but can't order and pick it up.

We walked through the door to a packed house inside due to the rain. I think we may have gotten the last corner spot. We were told to come here for the best pizza on the island (from a local's opinion, but good local's never really give out their absolute favorite honey hole in a tourist town). As we sat, trying to figure out what to order we looked around and on every single table was a pizza. That should say something. Yet, we ended up ordering a carafe of the house wine, a pomodoro, chx parm, lasagna, and their ragu with salads.

Call me weird, but I have this thing when I visit Italian restaurants that I immediately go for their simple house sauce or the lasagna. Because, to me, if the house sauce in it's simple form is epic, then all should follow suit.

It was good ..... quite good....and portions like someone's nona was feeding you. Best Italian food I've ever eaten?.....no. but Sal's tasted like somebody's home and you'd been invited over for family dinner. We all left stuffed, happy, and with a desire to return.

Perhaps this time to try the famous pizza.

Awesome local Italian place. The ravioli was spot on and even the GF pizza was top notch. Excellent service and very attentive staff.

Sadly, this is mid pizza at best. Apparently the place has gone downhill since Sal passed and new owners took over. Growing up in Jersey I know NJ pizza, and this ain’t it. Shame I didn’t get to experience it in its prime. Place had rave reviews and it’s really neat inside, just wish the food could’ve lived up the hype.
