The Half Shell SSI

Tasty! The wait was over an hour long on a Friday night, but they handed out a buzzer for us to know when our table was ready. The chef’s special was a seared tuna filet and rice which was great. Our waitress was nice, and service was quick. Overall, a great meal.

Half Shell was perfect for us wrapping up our beach trip. All the food looked so good it was hard to decide what to choose. After the waitress’s recommendation I got the crab cakes with bacon wrapped green beans and sweet potato fries. My friend got the crab cake BLT with grits and crab bisque. My recommendation: get the crab cakes and for sure the green beans and I enjoyed the grits too! We wrapped up with the gooey cake and my friend loved it too. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions. And like I said there are a lot of options that I think would please anyone. I think this is one of the top places to go in St. Simons.

Great crab crusted flounder

Great seafood spot in SSI. Had the fresh flounder and it was dynamite!

Food was almost a 5, but the tuna wontons have an oppressive thick sauce that covers them up, and shrimp ceviche tasted like apple cider vinegar and came like 3 wontons so we had to ask for more twice. Crab cake is best thing on the menu out of what we tried. Sitting outside was nice with the fan and rain, but people waiting for tables smoked and stood so closely to our table that it was a bit off putting.

I absolutely loved this place. My food was all amazing and the service was impeccable. If you visit St. Simons Island then you def go here for lunch or dinner atleast once. I will be back for sure.

On the busiest of weekends we had prompt, friendly, efficient service for our party of ten. I cannot say enough about our sweet server Cassie or the delicious food. Whether you’re there for the insanity of Georgia/Florida or for a chill family getaway, go see them. You won’t regret it.

The special was Flounder encrusted with crab. It was delicious, the portion was huge, and our server was very sweet and attentive.

Great place. Food and Service have been excellent. We have been there now multiple times and we’ve always enjoyed it. I can recommend the shrimp and grits.

This place is top notch. Waitresses are very nice and hospitable. Oysters Frederica was great. Bomb cheese grits. From appetizer to dessert is 10/10.

Best drinks. Best oysters and the most perfectly cooked peel and eat skrimps!! That cajun butter sauce, y'all! Yum!! ?
