The General Muir

There's no parking anywhere. Plan on walking a mile after you find a parking spot. Please don't drive an hour just to find out this place only has 10 parking spots in front of its establishment.

We did see the parking deck and the sign that said private property right next to it which is why we didn't park there. with that being said we did end up eating here and it was really good. Burger was great but the fries were not that good. Pastrami Hash was great except there wasn't any cabbage in my dish and when I asked I was told it was mixed with the onions but it was not. The matzah ball soup was ok but not very exciting to say the least, $11 for a bowl of soup that had oddly and unevenly shaped pieces of vegetables.

With that being said and with the new parking knowledge we have I look forward to coming back and trying a few more items. The service and parts of my meal that u did enjoy are definitely the saving grace for me returning to this establishment and giving it a fair review.

And for future reference please advise on your website about the parking deck option and to please ignore the private property sign which might discourage people to park and patronize your restaurant.

Overall: A great casual breakfast or lunch option in Sandy Springs, but be prepared to wait.

The good: The food and drinks are fantastic. Started with a lavender latte, which I don't typically indulge in, and it did not disappoint. Strong hints of lavender without being overwhelming, and definitely perked me up. We split a reuben and a chicken club so that we could try multiple things, and since the sandwiches are so large. Tons of flavor, with crispy and crunchy bread that still had that "fresh" feeling to it. The delicatessen meats were delicious and authentic. The fries were also a good addition to share.

The not-so-good: The service took a long time throughout the entire experience, from ordering to waiting for our food to waiting for the check. Prices are on the higher end of what you'd expect. No umbrellas for outdoor seating, so you better bring your shades and sunscreen for a hot summer day.

We heard last year about this restaurant and looked forward to visiting. We arrived at 8:30 am on Saturday. There was a very busy farmers market on the property. We were the only people in the restaurant. Other than atmosphere was nothing that would bring us back. The food was marginal at best.

I would have gone for something with a bagel or French toast but I would have had to hear my disciplined and nutrition knowledgeable wife remind me how unhealthy they are, lol. So yes, I get a veggie omelette with toast but it was delicious and nice and moist. Don’t you hate it when your significant other is right? I got the build your own with Boursin cheese but I would go with Swiss cheese next time. I like Boursin but it just didn’t work with the omelette.

Food was solid, the service was okay, but we were with a large group. We sat on the patio and the reason atmosphere got a 4 is because of the road noise from the street. The chicken salad was decent but too onion forward for my tastes.

Fast service and reasonable prices. I tried the Bagel with smoke trout and the pastrami sandwich. The bagel was fresh and the trout salad was delicious. Highly recommend. The pastrami was descent, nothing extraordinary but nothing wrong with it either. The rye bread was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The pickle was absolutely horrible. I would eat here again, but will probably stick to breakfast.

Jewish deli inspired restaurant. Reuben sandwich done right, Russian dressing not thousand island. Bagel sandwiches are wonderful. Parking in area can be hard at times.

I went here with my friend from Connecticut and she loved it. And so did I. We both had the matcha blueberry latte recommended by our server. It was delicious. The blueberry paired beautifully with the matcha and it was creamy and not too sweet. I had the avenue D and it was perfection. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable on the menu. This is a great spot for breakfast/brunch.

Parking: The free parking can get full on the weekends fast. Easier during the week. There's also an underground paid parking garage that's super close where the apartments are.

I came here after reading an Eater article stating that The General Muir has the best burger in Atlanta. The article was wrong, and the burger did not meet my expectations.While it is a good burger, it’s not great. It’s not a true, proper, “smashburger” — the patties are too thick, they’re unseasoned, and there isn’t enough cheese. The griddled onions are great and the bun was home-made, baked to perfection. If they smashed the patties more, got them thin and crispy, and added a few seasonings, they would have one of the best burgers in town.Latkes were great, pastrami was decent. Come here for breakfast or brunch, not for the “smash” burger.

This place is out of this world fantastic. The pastrami is near perfect. We dined for brunch and tried piled high pastrami, the general breakfast with schmaltz potatoes, deviled eggs, and pastrami and grits. We also had coffee and egg cream. We finished off brunch with a round of desert: cheesecake, coffee cake, and chocolate cake. Everything was so good from the service, to the atmosphere, to the food and I can’t wait to go back here.

Been wanting to try the General Muir for some time, so after an appointment this morning, we went to the Sandy Springs location for a bite before the lunch rush. They were not crowded, but service was slow and our server seemed somewhat disinterested and could not answer the few questions we posed. I ordered a bloody Mary, which was just warm tomato juice (had to ask for more ice), some pepper, and half a pickle (absolutely nothing to write home about), and we both ordered the double stack burger. Mine was so greasy that the bottom bun was soaked and had to be removed. It was supposed to have onions on it, but did not. There was just some cheese and a couple of pickle chips on it (no condiments either).The fries weren't very crisp and were heavily salted. Our server never came back to check on us once, and had to be flagged down for the check (and the ice that was mentioned earlier). Overall, the bill was approximately $60 sans tip. Maybe the original G.M. location is better (?) but this was a big let down, especially for a place that has long been on our list to try.
