“I get a call from my wife and she was with bursting with excitement to share an experience at Wexford. She and 2 of our grandsons had lunch there today.
Jake promptly served their every need with enthusiasm and he remained fully engaged in their experience. He even found himself as part of their conversation as my wife spoke to the boys about them setting boundaries with their friends.
Jake, thank you so much caring for my family in my absence! They enjoyed every moment and as they left, the boys said, “we want to come soon but only if Jake is here!”
They can’t wait to return and I know it will be soon because our youngest constantly says we have to eat at Wexford because they have best Shirley Temple’s in town! It’s all in the cherries, Jake! Thank you!!!“

“A fantastic friend suggested this spot for a delightful meal with live music, so my wife and I decided to give it a go last Friday night—and boy, were we impressed! Cary welcomed us with such a warm smile and positive energy that we knew we were in for a special night. Following her recommendation, we ordered the potato leek soup and the Reuben sandwich, and let me tell you, it was an absolute winning combo! The corned beef was just out of this world and complemented the soup perfectly. And that Bloody Mary Cary made? It was simply extraordinary! I absolutely adored the selection of pickled garnishes she put together . The service was outstanding, and the live music was fantastic. We promised Cary we’d come back to sample everything on the menu. We expressed our gratitude for how she made our night unforgettable, and she asked us to skip the tip and just write a great review for The Snug instead—that felt like the perfect gesture! Naturally, we did both! My wife even joked about reaching out to the mayor to rave about that incredible Bloody Mary! The Snug has definitely won our hearts, and we can’t wait to return!“

“O’Connell’s doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t, which is exactly what makes it work. Tucked into downtown Savannah, this is a small, no-frills Irish pub that feels genuinely transplanted from the old country rather than assembled from a “authentic pub” kit. No TVs, no DJ, no gastropub pretense. Just a tight, cozy space with a high-partition bar counter and walls covered in Irish memorabilia, soccer jerseys, countryside photos, the kind of stuff that accumulates over decades rather than gets ordered from a decorator.
Fair warning on the seating: the bench seats are sparse and not exactly plush, a thin layer of foam over wood. Nobody comes to O’Connell’s for lumbar support, though, and somehow it fits. Discomfort that feels intentional is just character.
The atmosphere is the whole point. Conversation flows easily, the room has that rare quality of feeling lived-in and welcoming at the same time, and the staff treat you like you’ve been coming in for years whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth.
If you’re looking for a lively night out with cocktail menus and mood lighting, keep walking. But if you want a quiet pint in a place that actually feels like a pub, O’Connell’s is the real deal in a city that has plenty of imitations.
