Best Sushi in Georgia that’s not in Atlanta. The Nigiri sushi and specialty rolls at Shogun in Statesboro never disappoint. I’ve eaten here well over 100 times and the cooked food and sushi is consistently great. I’ve also eaten sushi all over the state and with the exception of a few high end places in Atlanta this is my favorite spot. Great product for a reasonable price. Shogun in Statesboro is an amazing spot. The waitresses always greets me happily and I always get great service even when they are packed out the door. Thanks for all the great years of great dining Shogun, great job!

Need to stay open until at least 10pm during weekdays as many Seniors , Retirees as well as others that work shift work would go and dine in if they could have that option available. Rushing to get there by a few minutes beyond 8pm causes the restaurant and customers to be in a rush. And the customers feel as they are being rushed out. As well try this on a one month trial basis and see how it works out if you could. It could likely bring more customers in all which helps the restaurant and the customers. And maybe consider closing at 11pm on Friday and Saturday Nights . With Sunday thru Thursday closing at 10pm. Edit... Last Visit 8-15-24 Service has declined since last visit.

We have eaten here a good bit. The first several times we had excellent food and service. Then we went and the lady behind the counter (handles take-out, answering phone, seating people) was extremely rude to us. We figured everyone has a bad day every now and then so we didn't say anything. The next time we went we ordered the steak and cheese egg roll, one of our favorite appetizers. We didn't get it until we were almost done with our dinner. Both orders tasted freezer burned. The sushi didn't come until after our dinner and we sent it back as it was way too late for an appetizer and we just wanted to pay and get out of there. We went again last night in a large party. We had to wait about 10 minutes just to talk to the hostess. She did seat us immediately once she was available to talk to. The food was excellent. The service was horrible. We had to beg for refills for our drinks. The atmosphere was marked as three stars because it was so hot in the room we were seated in. The thermostat showed that it was 83 degrees at one point. We mentioned it to staff and they did nothing to address it. A customer from the table next to us finally got up and adjusted the temperature himself. It did get down to 79 degrees before we left. I'm not sure that we will give them another chance.

I enjoy the extensive sushi menu at Shogun and only eat on the sushi bar side of the restaurant; therefore, this review pertains only to that side. The food is wonderful but the cleanliness of the restaurant is horrendous: finger prints all over the doors and windows, awful bathrooms (if the bathroom is nasty, the kitchen is nasty) to-go styrofoam stacked all over the sushi bar (unsightly, uninviting and probably dust ridden) shrimp sauce containers on each table sticky and finger printed. Shogun is definitely not a restaurant that prides itself on atmosphere, experience or cleanliness. A little elbow grease and care could go a long way.

Food allergies should not be hard to understand! Went to lunch here with my sister. The food is always good. But, when my sister told the server about her food allergy it was not communicated to the hibachi chef. So the chef and the manager literally argued with her for at least three minutes in front of everyone over her food allergy, as if they could not understand that she could not have it.
Again the food here is great, but the service needs work.

This is the second time we went in years and we all got stomach aches. The food tastes good. And it went out as quick as it came in.
It has gone down a lot since we visited five years ago.

Shoguns website shows a closing time of 10 pm and they close at 9 pm. I’ve ask the owner to update for others who aren’t familiar. Also they stop taking customers at 8:30 which I am also aware of but others may not. Tonight I arrived and waited until 8:25 for the attendant to come seat my husband and I. He informed me that they had been closed 30 minutes which was incorrect and I showed him the clock. He refused and said the grill was already being cleaned. If you want to close at 8:30 no problem but stop wasting customers time and post the proper time and stick to it.
