I found this place by looking for a place to go for a late evening. The service was amazing. The waiter was attentive. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge. The vibe was so relaxed, and the live band was good, I would suggest that they turn the bass down a bit because it was extremely loud. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Will definitely go back, ok? It's a Friday evening. I ordered the Jerk chicken pasta, Island Sparkler (Mocktail) and fried calamari, and my husband had the surf and turf.

I get off late so I noticed on Thursday Calabar has a lot of cars in the parking lot. I decided to stop in tonight. I ordered a drink and I leaned against the bar. The bartender said you can't lean on the bar....ok. They're people leaning on the bar and a couple with their phones and drinks sitting on the bar. I put my drink up and stood in front of the bar. I ordered another drink and is sipping..... security walks up to me and says I can't Stand in front of the bar unless I'm ordering drinks....I literally had a fresh drink ? in my hand. I told him I just ordered a drink and pointed out all the people he passed to reach me to tell me not to stand in front of the bar while they were lounging at the bar. He got angry and became aggressive..... clearly invading all my personal space..... attempting to intimidate me. "I'm not here to argue with you. They don't want you standing here." He wanted to throw hands. I came to your establishment and spent the money that I worked for to be harassed by security. I left the drink I just paid for and left. I saw some bad reviews and came anyway.... lesson learned.

I'm not sure what happened tonight and the food was mediocre. I ordered 3 tacos, 1 chipotle chicken, 1 jerk chicken and 1 shrimp. The chipotle chicken was dry and flavorless. They were sloppy, maybe they were in a rush. The food is usually good but tonight my order was not that good.

Great food, great drinks, and great music! We came on Friday night. It was the PERFECT way to start my weekend. Atmosphere was grown and sexy. Our server was very attentive. I had the the red snapper and it was great! My hubby had salmon and that was delicious.

I have 3 stars because service was good but the food missed the mark. We started off with loaded spinach dip and jerk bbq wings. The wings were good and I loved the sauce. The spin dip reminded me of creamed spinach with chicken, shrimp and bacon. The spin dip wasn’t creamy like traditional dip it was loose and watery. The server recommended the jerk pasta. The pasta tasted under seasoned and it needed more Alfredo sauce. The server took care of us! They also have hookah!!!!

Overcharged for a very weak drink, I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes that had almost no seasoning or added flavor, in a container that wasn’t even filled, and on top of that even though I ordered takeout by myself, the bartender added 18% gratuity and just shrugged when I asked why. 28 dollars for a partial side of tasteless mashed potatoes and a weak well whiskey drink, while waiting in a space that had all the ambiance of a hospital waiting room.

First visit to this cozy spot. I had eaten earlier so I wasn't really hungry but my companion was starving & raved about her lamb shank. I'm a flavor lightweight and thought it was a bit rich for me (which would have been my guess from the menu).
I got the jasmine rice side as a snack and it was perfection and had such flavor all on its own. ?
They lost a star because our server felt new and the service we got was overall a bit awkward.
