I usually try to find spots suited for my vegetarian husband. I look for spots with a wide selection of vegetarian options that are made to order with fresh non frozen ingredients. This spot was definitely it! Sambusas made of lentil and one of tofu. Yum!!!! Husband had the yellow lentil Wot and truly enjoyed it. I had the beef tibs. Both meals include Injera which is a fermented teft pancake like bread used to scoop your meal up with. We had utensils but did try to eat it the traditional way. Hibiscus and Lemonade were the drinks kf the evening. Husband loved the hibiscus also known as Sorrel in Jamaica.

The ambience was very traditional. They had a video with music and videos of scene of Ethiopian.

Please check this out!

We are a vegan couple traveling for the weekend through what felt like a vegan desert— very few restaurants available with veg offerings along our route and even fewer open on Sunday evening, so we were thrilled to come across Lion of Judah. The atmosphere is quaint with lots of cultural treasures & photos, a setup for traditional coffee ceremony, and Ethiopian music videos playing. There was a bit of a wait which we didn’t mind— the food was freshly prepared and we enjoyed sipping our spiced tea, listening to the music. We ordered the corn ribs, which are made with vegan mayo, tofu tibs, and red lentil wot with injera. The food was delicious and satisfying, especially the tofu tibs which we had never tried before. We recommend paying a visit to this sweet family owned restaurant with traditional eats, and we insist you try the spiced tea— absolutely delightful.

We finally got around to trying Lion of Judah after seeing many positive posts and reviews, and we were not disappointed! The food was amazing!! Everything we had (sambusas, hummus and chips, beef and chicken tibs), right down to the hibiscus tea, was fantastic. The wait can be a bit longer than you may be used to, but this isn't a chain restaurant with pre-prepared items. It's all homemade, fresh, when you order. We asked for medium spice, unsure how spicy it would be exactly, but it wasn't hot so next time we'll definitely try spicy! We have our eye on the Taste of Ethiopia, so we'll have to come in hungry 😁 Highly recommend LoJ if you're looking for something different and delicious!

Heard about the Lion of judah from a few friends and decided to give it a try with the girlfriend. We ordered the injera chips and hummus, beef and chicken sambusas as appetizers. The chips were cooked to perfection and the hummus was delicious and fresh. The beef and chicken sambusas were flavorful and cooked amazingly. We ordered the chicken tibs and beef tibs as our entrees. Both meals were tender and juicy, packed with flavor. An overall wonderful experience! (And the hibiscus tea was amazing too!) We will definitely be back!!!

For my birthday, we finally got out to try Lion of Judah since we've been seeing posts and recommendations in our community groups for a while now. Nearly everyone has raved about how good the food is, and despite never having tried Ethiopian cuisine before, we expected that we would like it. We were definitely not disappointed! We had the chips and hummus, beef and chicken sambusas, beef and chicken tibs, and the hibiscus tea. Everything was delicious! We opted for medium spice, but honestly we will probably try spicy next time because while flavorful, it was not particularly hot so I think I could handle it 😆

Amazing food!!!! Awesome vegetarian/vegan options. The staff was really cool, genuine, welcoming, and accommodating. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

P.S. We ordered appetizers and dinners, which is why I chose the $20- $30 per person. The prices are really fantastic considering the quality of the food for the amount charged.

We haven’t been able to come back here since we had our baby so we decided to door dash, not knowing they were closed today since DoorDash said it was open. Instead of canceling the order, the dasher told us the owner came in and made us our food, even though they weren’t open. Lion of Judah saved the day and we are so grateful to have our Wot for dinner! We missed it! Fresh food that’s full of flavor and amazing staff. Thank you so much ❤️

We love Ethiopian food, so during a very long road trip, we drove off the freeway to have dinner here. We're not vegetarians, but we saw oyster mushroom wat on the menu, which we've never seen before at an Ethiopian restaurant. I'm so glad we tried it. It was so delicious. One thing to note, this restaurant has adjusted the usual Ethiopian spice levels to accommodate everyone, so if you are used to Ethiopian food, you'll be fine ordering your food spicy. Also, the owner of this restaurant is so kind!

Very unpleasant experience

Negatives: Restaurant was dirty food sauces on two different chairs got all over our clothes. There were pieces of food on many of the floor areas. Nothing looked properly cleaned. Food took over an hour, and was not very good. Too much salt not enough spice. Small portions. Most of my food had spilled into the bag, before it was handed to me. Loud country music with lyrics that were not family friendly playing out front. Sooo uncomfortably loud. Would have loved to hear traditional music recorded or live. Bite taken out of the sweet bread (maybe this was a traditional practice that I’m not aware of.)

Positives: Love that the restaurant is family run. Staff were very polite and kind. The decor is nice and cozy. The Injera was the only food that tasted pleasant/ well made, compared to other Ethiopian restaurants I e eaten at.

I wanted to love it. If the food had tasted good, it would have made it worthwhile.
