Surprised business isn't lined out the door. Delicious food, Good lunch price, great service! And they give you so much food.Only negative I saw in previous reviews was the menu was pricy for lunch. Now they have a special lunch menu with prices under $10.

Comment by Lorretta: Yesterday, on our way home from Stephen's VA Lawrenceville appointment to our Greensboro GA home, we noticed that the former Watkinsville GA Dairy Queen building near Publix & Zaxby's now housed a new seafood restaurant, The Crab Hut. Without great expectations, we stopped to try it out. We were blown away. The food was exceptional. The service was fast and friendly. The place was spotless. As in many crab restaurants, the tables were covered with white Butcher paper. This is casual dining delivered up with plastic forks & napkins delivered in a paper boat. The only negatives were that the Ladies' Restroom door was "swollen" & didn't close well and it is smack in the middle of Watkinsville's Road Construction project. Stephen ordered the Crab Fried Rice and I ordered the Shrimp & Sausage Boil. Both came as Mild, Medium, Hot, & Extra Hot. They did not disappoint. Portions were very large. In fact, I brought about 18 slices of the sausage home along with a takeout order of the Crab Fried Rice for us to have at home later. Prices were more than reasonable for the amount of food. Their menu (see pics) has a wide variety of seafood along with frog legs, chicken tenders, salad, and Vietnamese Pho. As a wee bit of a spice nerd, I was surprised that it was seasoned perfectly. The boil was delivered in a hot, swollen, plastic bag. It contained half pound of jumbo shrimp, half pound of polish sausage, one small potato, and a corn nibblet swimming in a delicious broth. Half way through, I was already getting stuffed. This place is well worth the 35 minute drive from Greensboro. We will definitely be returning. We definitely recommend this restaurant for your seafood fix.

Butter my butt, and call me a biscuit - I did NOT expect a crab shack right next to landlocked Athens, GA to be worth a red cent, but here I've been proven wrong. We came up from Florida to visit family, and had a birthday supper at The Crab Shack. I was honestly a bit apprehensive - can you blame me? - but there was no need.My table ordered calamari and hush puppies as appetizers. The calamari were HUGE, and I assume fresh-caught; whereas the hush puppies were tiny, moist, and studded with finely diced green onion. I did try a hush puppy - they seemed to be mostly cornmeal, and had a mild sweetness, not unpleasant. For an entree, I got the jumbo shrimp boil with lemon garlic butter. When our waitress brought a plastic bag on a platter, it wasn't what I expected, but it was definitely intriguing! Aquarium take home bag notwithstanding, the food inside was excellent - the seasoning had plenty of paprika and garlic, with just enough spice to make almost anybody, from mild preferences those who prefer more kick, to be pleased.

Your credit card machine kept declining our credit card. We came home and checked the card and it has money on it. Of course we pay with cash.

The food was awful I had the jumbo shrimp they weren’t cook all way very bland. My son had the wings which came in a plastic bag like a wing boil same was awful wasn’t fully cook, not season. His dad had the Po boy sandwich and catfish the catfish was okay itself but on a sandwich I wouldn’t recommend it poorly made very soggy had no taste. The coleslaw was bland it was terrible honestly. Me personally wouldn’t recommend it! I heard it was terrible but I wanted to form my own opinion wish I had listen!! This place needs to be shut down before someone gets violently Ill!!

What is quite amusing about this place is the name. It is called the Crab Hut, but doesn't serve crab in any form. Various types of seafood, but not crab. Certainly not 5 star quality food, but the service is great, the food is good enough and very fairly priced. Serving sizes are large. The Lunch Menu tops out at $12. And this is for a decent NC boil that comes in a steaming bag. The gumbo is fine and comes with a very large and fresh salad for only $8! I took half of it home. Appetizers at local competition can run more than entrees here. These are pre-pandemic prices, folks, come by and enjoy. The value is just plain nuts! Not really a dinner place, the dining room is unassuming, paper table covers and plastic utensils rule. But for lunch, it is definitely a multiple visit type of place. I have been twice in two weeks and plan to come again every so often.

Who knew that Pho and fried catfish would be happy plate-mates? I had the House Special Beef Pho and the hostess was kind enough to agree to also serve me a small side of fried catfish. The pho broth was authentic and flavorful, with tasty cuts of meat. The fried catfish was superb, not greasy, fragrant breading, a thin crisp and flavorful strip of fish that went really well with the sauces served. The place looks like a fast food joint from the outside and is clean and cheerful on the inside. I wasn't expecting a cross cultural culinary experience, but I'm glad I visited! I’m lucky to keep finding culinary gems like these in Georgia!

Hushpuppies are bland, onion rings are the mass produced frozen kind super bland, coleslaw is blah, shoestring fries bland, none of the sides are any good. Whoever heard of a quality fish place selling fried cheese and eggrolls??? Fish is nothing special at all. My fish was not cooked all the way through. Keep in mind new management does not mean new recipes that are unique and worth paying a high price for! To describe with one word YUCK! Someone please get one of those reality shows to make this place over with decent food! This place needs to be rescued!

OMFG the food is legitimate. I reluctantly tried it not know what I was in the mood for and it blew me away. Exceeded all expectations!!! I got a shrimp po boy, broccoli with the cajun butter, hush puppies, and the gumbo was to die for!!! Outstanding all around. I just wish it didn't look so scary from the outside ? Please support this place... It's by far the best food in Watkinsville.
