smokey gringos was at strange duck last night. we ordered a few different things. everything came out extremely fast, so fast that they could not have made it actually fresh. the food was luke warm and very expensive. nothing impressive. I will say however, the owner and his worker were nice.
My favorite local restaurant! The staple tacos are SO SO good! My husband and I love eating here and the Gringo Margarita is a must try.
I am sad to see this place go. It is not very often I can find such a unique place with truly amazing food. I am hoping they can find a new location soon so I can keep coming.
Great atmosphere
It's definitely a cool vibe for Winder! The Paloma was delicious and refreshing with my nachos! Hubby had the Smoked Gringo burger, it was savory and juicy. Oh, and ice COLD beer made for a good Friday night 🌙! ... add 20 points if the owners love the Dallas Cowboys.
The food used to be good when they opened, tonight I got a burrito which the burrito part was cold and the filling was warm,my son's nachos were cold when I asked to see a Mgr to complain she didn't have much to say but the woman working behind the laughed at me while I was talking to the Mgr on duty, we had no alcohol and will not be back again and paid almost 50 dollars for a plate of nachos and a burrito
Finally ventured away from my usual tacos that I get (which are amazing) and got The Gringo Burger. It might be the best burger I've ever had. It's on another level. From now on, it will be the burger that I think about whenever I eat other burgers.
Food is amazing, service is quick, the people and the owner are the nicest I’ve ever met!

Use to love this restaurant, the owner has completely changed everything. You use to be able to make your meal and they would hand it to you at the counter. Now they take your order and they bring you your food. Spent 20 minutes waiting on nachos and there was no one on the restaurant. Not to mention my order came out wrong…bad decision on changing the way things were done

Dry burger..... brisket burrito contains a small portion of filling so you feel like you're eating a giant rolled up tortilla.
Several problems during our dining experience here. They were out of totchos and dirty pillows. We ordered our food at 6:32 PM. Half of our order came out by 7:00PM, a burger and a quesadilla. We had also ordered a large queso, and two more quesadillas (we were a party of four). We were approached and told they ran out of the burrito shells and were asked if using smaller taco shells would be a satisfactory alternative and they would match the amount of food. We said yes (not knowing the size). When the rest of our order finally came out at 7:15PM it was almost laughable. The quesadilla made with the taco shells was not the same amount of food. My quesadilla had a dismal amount of chicken in it. I might as well have gotten a cheese quesadilla. Overall for what we ordered it took entirely too long and was quite overpriced. And what kind of Mexican/Mexican fusion restaurant runs out of burrito shells before 7pm on a Saturday?
This place use to be so good, they would make it as you picked the items you wanted or didn't want. It is not that way now. The owner completely changed the flow of the place, and increased prices a good bit. You go up and order, but no longer do you get to built your perfect meal, you now pick from what they call signature items. You can still do it the old way, kinda, but it is much more confusing and slower, then before, I know its a new set up, but I'm hoping it goes back to how it was. I will say the staff is still good and are making the best of a bad decision from their boss.

We would go here regularly for lunch, but with their most recent changes to how they serve their food, that is likely coming to an end.
Prior, this was a Chipotle-esque Taco Bar, where you got to pick your toppings in a short line before getting to the checkout. Now, they've a small, condensed menu of "Signature" preparations.
We were told we could still "order the old way", and so we did. However, the meal for two that used to be in the $30s was now $50. We ordered two half-orders of nachos and two fountain drinks.
Once our food was delivered to my table and I began eating, I noticed that the quality of food had taken a hit as well. Maybe it was an off day, but the queso was far too runny and the chips under seasoned.
The staff was still as friendly as ever, and I'm not upset at them at all. The place was still clean, just undergoing some more renovations.
Just a warning to those going who expect what it used to be, as it may not be anymore.

This is worth making a long drive for dinner. There’s something creative and legendary for everyone with the best people you could dream of operating the place. The hardest part is choosing WHAT to get, but you can’t go wrong. A dream of a restaurant.
