This used to he such a lovely spot for Sunday brunch, but it is just plain gross now. The service was awful....slow, unattentive. The wait staff matching the apathy of the chefs with blah food. They've all given up. Reheated biscuits in the microwave topped with pasty, flaverless gravy. The deviled eggs were a joke. A third grader could do better. The burger was so greasy and not cooked as ordered. The fries were decent, but were all we had to eat for five minutes since no silverware was readily available...so, yeah they were great. Skip it...so many better places to eat in downtown WDSTK.

Golden Mac cakes - 7/10 Southern Heritage bowl with Andouille sausage and grits - 6/10 Vibe/service - 6/10 Freight was one of our favorite restaurants pre-pandemic. They have a folksy location, comfy seating with a porch area and are in the top tier of price points for this area (downtown Woodstock). Their bourbon list is extensive and impressive. This is our third time eating here in the last year, we've tried a variety of menu items from both the dinner and brunch menu. Unfortunately, this experience confirmed for us that their food quality has taken a downturn since 2020. We arrived for brunch to a 3/4 full restaurant and waited about five minutes without any hostess attention. We decided to sit at the bar hoping for quicker service. Although the restaurant was busy, the staff was extremely professional and attentive to detail. Our orders came back 100% accurate and we were checked on about four times in the one hour visit. The Golden Mac cakes are made with Pimento mac and cheese inside a golden crust. The fry was impressive but the mac was bland, I was hoping for more of a creamy pimento consistency. It could've used more seasoning. The gouda mornay really makes this dish, it is an incredibly good sauce drizzled on top. The southern Heritage bowl came out tepid, it might have been sitting out for some time but it was far from a hot dish. The grits, which are usually creamy, were clumped together in chunks. The biscuit was almost hard but still delicious. The andouille sausage had great taste but was a tad greasy. We've had way better meals here so we expected better from the kitchen and for this price point.

For years, I drove past this place, thinking there was no way they were going to be any good. They're smack dab in the heart of Downtown Woodstock, touristy as heck, and I bet that their menu was going to be overpriced for mediocre food that people paid just because of their trendy location. And then a friend invited me here to have lunch, and it was time to actually put this place to the test. As mentioned, they're right in the heart of Downtown Woodstock, so the easiest way to get there is probably the Towne Lake Pkwy exit off of I-575 (think it's 7 or 8) and go east bound until you hit train tracks, and that's precisely where the place is located. Parking can be kind of a pain depending on the time of day you go there, but I went on a weekday lunch time, and was able to find a place in a nearby lot. But I've been in the area when it's also been traffic armageddon so plan your trips accordingly. The business is what I'd call a combination of rustic and trendy, and since their whole motif is like a boxcar, the floors feel old and creaky, but the decor is modern and functional. Going at the peak of lunch time on a weekday, thankfully it wasn't that hard for my friend and I to get seated, and service was attentive and pleasant the whole time. The menu has a lot of variety in options, all trying to sound kind of artisan, but on this particular visit, I was just in the mood for a burger and fries, and honestly for a place like this, $15~ isn't bad at all, and I know I've paid more for lesser quality food in my life. The Main Street burger is hearty and generous, and the candied bacon steals the show, and I was very pleased with my meal entirely. Overall, this place defied my skepticism that they were just a trendy restaurant that was expensive and mediocre and only succeeded on account of their prime location. The quality of the food was excellent, the service was not at all poor, and I left the place satisfied and feeling positive about the business. Not sure if I'd test my luck on a weekend evening or at any time when Downtown Woodstock is slammed, but under similar circumstances, I'd gladly come back and try out some of their other menu options or have some beers.

Went here for Sunday brunch, its definitely my favorite. The prime rib is absolutely devine! I also love the sausage and maple bacon. Clearly I'm a meat eater! Eggs are also on point. I always sit at the bar and Ms Ashlee is the perfect host for brunch time drinks. Bloody Mary bar is also a super nice touch. Will be back for sure.

Went during brunch today. Ordered Salmon Benedict and the salmon was the fishy and cold. The hollandaise was some unrecognizable yellowish fluid. As a side I ordered sweet potato fries which were a bit too literal by being smothered in brown sugar. The water was good, tho?

Visited on a Thursday night and there weren't many people in the restaurant. We had to wait a few minutes before we got seated (there wasn't clear direction on whether we had to wait to be seated or could take the open tables). Service: Waiter was very friendly and helpful. He did forget to bring me a water (we asked for two) but did take the time to go through the drink specials and ask if we needed anything throughout our meal). Food: we ordered the Mac and cheese cakes and jalapeño poppers to start with. We also got a beet salad with chicken. All of these were delicious. However, the menu selections are few which left me with no real desire to order an entree for myself which was a shame (again the things we did get were tasty and would get them again!), I just wish there was a wider selection of entrees. Drinks: They had specialty cocktails and festive ones for the Halloween season. I ended up getting one of the Halloween drinks that tasted like a caramel apple. It was a bit too sweet. Then I went to my go to, a smoked old fashioned, and this is where they lost that second star. I had high hopes after the food but this drink tasted like a cheap well drink. All in all, felt like an average spot. Will be looking forward to going back for app but not much more until the menu gets an upgrade.

We used to really enjoy this place but they have gone downhill. Recently it was published that they received a food score of 38/100 (F). YIKES!

We had such a good lunch here while exploring downtown Woodstock! The fried pickles are SO good with all the toppings, early train burger was perfectly cooked and so filling, and the salmon BLT was amazing and 3x bigger than I expected. You have to get the Parmesan truffle fries or you are making a huge mistake! We can't wait to come back!

Awesome place. We stopped in for a quick drink and some fries while we had a moment nearly to ourselves.Matthew served us and he was an absolute delight. He mDe solid recommendations, considered the temperature of the fries since we mentioned our little kiddo (pictured) was hungry and held just the right amount of conversation. He also made a great drink.Love the place, hope to revisit soon.

This place is horrible. There were two hostess, neither one of them knew how to hostess. We waited at the stand a long time while they tried to figure out how to seat us. Server hates his job and his life too probably. Unhappy unprofessional and uninterested. Drinks are crap and food was so salty it was basically inedible. There was no manager anywhere to be seen, no customer service. Too bad because it's in the old train station so it's cute.

5 of us went last Sunday night for dinner. We chose to eat outside as there was a nice breeze. They were unfortunately out of a lot of things, however, what they did have was super. The ribs were excellent, Salmon terrific as well as the chicken fried chicken. They need to sand their outside tables, and maybe buy Ocean spray cranberry juice for their cosmos. Try it, it’s worth the stop.

I definitely would not go out of the way to go here. We had the crappiest waitress who never smiled, told one of my guests off for sending something back and when we asked her to take some of the plates she took them and proceeded to put them on the end of our table. It's a shame too because my kids really liked it on their first visit here; they wanted me to experience it.
