The bartender was our server and he was pleasant. We both had mules to drink while a guitar player was playing and singing. My husband had the chicken thighs which were tasty served with rice and sweet potato salad and I had the fried fish tacos which were good yet messy with all the sauce. We enjoyed watching the surfers in the pool for a short time before they closed the pools at 6:30 pm.
I had a chance to checkout the Lookout. Nice restaurant with great views of the beach and surfing trainer at Wai Kai park. The restaurant is nice with open 180 degree view of the area. The staff are great. They greet you as you.come in. There is ample dining and a pretty nice bar which is great for socializing, seeing the views, and watching sporting events. I only had apps. The guacamole and queso were very good. I had a drink that was part mai tai and part Blue Hawaiian. It was good as well. I would definitely visit again when I am back in the area.
Thank you so much for the pleasant experience and I appreciate the service!! Mahalo and hopefully there will be a next get together soon! Live music, good food, friendly staff!! On point!
Overall it was an experience for view and entertainment and not quality of food. With that being said we won't be returning for a meal. It wasn't one dish but all of our meals. I did appreciate the surprise birthday dessert! Maybe an off night but many others restaurants to try out.
We went on a Thursday, which meant the farmers market/night market was going on. It was nice to browse before our dinner. Happy hour specials were going on until close. At 7, surfers put on an amazing show. Overall, it was a great date night and we will be back to try the other activities Wai Kai has to offer!
We stumbled upon The Lookout completely by accident while searching for a lunch spot with a view, and what a discovery it was! We had no idea this place even existed. The location turned out to be perfect timing - there was an LPGA tournament happening next door, which added great energy to the atmosphere. But the real surprise was watching people surf on the city wave right from our table. We had no idea you could surf in the city like that! The view alone made it worth the visit, and lunch ended up being a fantastic bonus. If you're looking for a unique dining experience with unexpected entertainment, The Lookout is definitely worth checking out. Highly recommend making reservations - we're so glad we did!
Love the place, wish the glass doors/windows would be open. The entertainment is good, the food top top-notch.
Enjoyed the beautiful view and food and drinks, and appreciated the spacious dining area. However, we relocated to the far corner to mitigate the effect of the TV/speakers blaring sports, which detracted from the overall experience and frankly created a sort of dive-bar vibe, in contrast to the otherwise understated atmosphere and decor. One of out fave places will broadcast sports on the monitors, but play music through the speakers (tasteful & not blaring). I think the current practice may be alienating some potential clientele
Food, service, and atmosphere are impressive. Big servings. Parking, no problem. It's somehow a great concept having to dine and watch surfers at the same time. You will get a nice view of the water park as well. You will, though, miss a beautiful sunset. There's only but 1 restroom upstairs (family restroom), additional is downstairs. A great dine-in choice when traffic hits east. However, reservation is recommended.

Since the windows were opened, once wave pool started up, alittle noisier but still could hold a conversation. The view wonderful & staff friendly. The ahi tofu burger was alittle disappointing, no flavor, other dishes looked nice and no complaints on taste ( nachos, Swiss-mushroom burger, fish tacos, house salad.). Butta cake with ice cream also a winner. Presentations were appealing. Appreciated the time we were allowed to sit & chat. Mahalos
The LookOut Restaurant at Wai Kai: A Must-Visit for Views, Vibes & Great Food!
The LookOut at Wai Kai in Ewa Beach is truly a gem, offering an experience beyond just a meal. This is the place to be if you're looking for a vibrant atmosphere, delicious food, and incredible views.
What immediately strikes you is the stunning ambiance. Perched right over the Wai Kai Wave, you get a front-row seat to watch surfers ride the artificial wave, which is surprisingly captivating and adds a unique energy to the dining experience. The open-air setting and modern decor perfectly blend with the beautiful Hawaiian surroundings, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe.
The food at The LookOut consistently impresses. Their menu offers a great selection of elevated American and local Hawaiian favorites. Highlights for us included cheeseburgers with fries, kalbi, and spicy edamame. For drinks, we had virgin pina coladas all tasted delicious.
The staff were friendly.
