food was tasty and place was clean however this is an example of a place with potential to fill. The skill of the culinary staff is not fully realized and overshadowed by the reality of trying to keep costs low in a very expensive Hawaiian economy. There does seem to be an inconsistency in their products. An example would be in the other posts about fish tacos and fries. Strangely when my wife and I ate here, the kitchen (or at least a portion of it) was visible from the cointer where we ordered but we never saw anyone there cooking which makes one wonder about when the food was actually cooked or if it is simply warmed up after a previous prep. Some tweaks to their operations and customer facing elements need outside expert refinement. Our chef answered some questions about the food and was pouring sweat, not a good look from the guy hovering over your food. A bandana or something would help. Also the cashier seemed to know little about the food. For example, ceviche was listed as a special and I asked about the ingredients to which she replied that she did not know, at all… and that is a bad sign. The product is the food, the employees should know the product.

Food was great ! Had the chimichanga Carne Asada with beans customer service was great , cashier offered food recommendation that’s why I went with the chimi. Enjoyed the service and respected that the cashier was bilingual so my family was able to communicate better with her.

I will NEVER come again and tell everyone about their lack of cleanliness and FRAUDULENT practices. I’ve seen one of the cooks do dishes and cook right after handling multiple plates of food. They also have possible family members walk into the kitchen and EAT AND DRINK near the food they serve to customers. A cashier told me they do not keep tips paid through any card and the owners don’t pay workers on time or any overtime. On top of scamming the customers they scam their workers very disgusted.

First time trying the Hawaii Kai location. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they didn't disappoint. Great flavor and not bland like many Mexican restaurants in Hawaii. Food was hot and served quickly. Looking for to trying other items on the menu.
Possibly the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I would suggest never eating here unless you like extremely overpriced terrible food served on paper plates, in very small portions. The Steak taco was dried out With no extra toppings except a few onions, no cheese, tomato nothing. The steak was an up charge the cashier didn’t bother to tell me and was like leather impossible to eat. stale tortilla and three day old steak. My friend ordered an enchilada plate that consisted of four very small enchiladas with hardly any sauce. No beans or rice served on two separate teeny paper plates terrible all that for only $19. The worst. But it was not noisy because there was nobody in there, and there was plenty of seating and parking because again nobody except a few people picking up takeout.

Personally being from SoCal I am particularly picky with my Mexican food. This place is by far one of the best and most authentic places I have found on island and is reasonable in price.
