Matsumoto Shave Ice

As soon as we took our first bite, we unanimously felt this was the best shave ice we had ever had. The texture was not too heavy and not too soft and fluffy. It was just right. The flavors were extraordinary. They also have a nice selection of merch. Our family all bought t-shirts to rep our new favorite shave ice :).

So good. The line is long yes. But it does move fast. Inexpensive. A small it’s a perfect size for 1 or 2 people.
The parking is very limited for the amount of people visiting the area so be mindful of that.

I've been going to Matsumoto for almost 15 years. Its a must for every trip we make to Oahu. We get it at least two times per trip.

The line can get long, but it moves fast. Time it right during the day or go on a slower day and you have no line. Parking nearby can be hard to find at times. Not a big deal.. park a ways down the street and walk through Haleiwa and enjoy the other shops and take in the north shore vibe.

The texture of the ice they use is so fluffy. Its an amazing texture!
The bowls are perfect for holding the ice. Makes it easy to eat if you end up standing. Check out the merch, they have some awesome souvenirs to commemorate your experience.

Classic shave ice with a national if not national reputation. Large flavor selection, classic add-ons (mochi, ice cream, azuki, condensed milk), large gift shop and many t-shirt and tank top options. Long line but moves quick. Parking lot is always full but does turn over. Surrounded by many gift shops.

Yes, the line is long, but it goes very fast. They have so many flavors and options and add-ons. We loved it and would wait in that line again. I got the Hawaiian combo and was super pleased.

There is always a long queue, but it moves fast. The ice is smooth. It is sweet but doesn’t taste any artificial flavours. Do NOT add any ice cream toppings as they destroy the taste of shave ice.

Kid-friendliness: Sweet, but don’t let your kids eat too much.

This was more of a snow cone than shave ice. The ice was crunchy and the syrup was flavorless. We were the only customers yet it took 15 minutes to get our orders.

If you go in the morning, there will be no waiting time. If you drive for 40 minutes from Waikiki at 9 o'clock, you'll be able to enjoy shaved ice at Haleiwa Town after visiting the North Shore. Kwaaina and garlic shrimp for lunch are also nearby. In the afternoon, there is a huge traffic jam with cars heading to the North Shore, and parking spaces are hard to find. The waiting time for shaved ice is nearly an hour in the afternoon. While you wait, there will be a signboard with instructions on how to order, so prepare in advance and place your order. You can watch the skillful process of making it through the glass. Original T-shirts and goods are also available.

Parking: There are several dozen parking lots behind the shopping street, but it's hard to find space in the afternoon.

Best shave ice we've had on Oahu! The line moves quickly, though it does get quite long. The workers are generous with the flavor syrup, so it tastes good till the last bite!
