Now this was amazing, crispy fish, crispy fries. I didn’t quite catch the name of the black sauce… but I think it was a mix of soy sauce with something. Anyways the fish and chips were great on its own, but the addition of a sauces was chef’s kiss. This would be a must try in my opinion.
Captain Sam’s is one of the food trucks located in the lot just north of Hasegawa General Store in Hana. Parking is almost non-existent, so it’s easier to park on Mill Place across the street. Their prices are a bit on the high side, but the portions are generous - in hindsight, my wife and I should have split one plate lunch. The fish in the fish and chips was mahi mahi which was unusual but very Hawaii. Overall, the food is greasy, good, and very satisfying after a day hiking...
Do yourself a favor and stop here if you are driving the road to Hana! It is delicious and hands down the best poke we had all week on Maui. Super friendly as well, very happy that we stumbled upon this little place.
