This was our favorite restaurant in Kauai due to the excellent food, service, and breathtaking views. We stayed at Hanalei Colony Resort and ended up eating here multiple times because the food was better than what we had when venturing in town to Hanalei Bay. I can't express how amazing the service was. You truly felt like the staff cared about your experience.Opakapaka Grill and Bar is the only oceanfront restaurant in Hanalei and it won't disappoint. We had the poke nachos, fish and chips, burger, and tried multiple drinks over the days. Everything was top notch. We were even there one night that they had local music that was excellent. Truly a North Shore Kauai experience. You MUST give this oceanfront restaurant a try when in town. It will have you making a second (or third) trip back.

We stopped in for lunch. I had the fish and chips, which were about standard. Not bad or exceptional. My son had the BBQ chicken pizza - which was excellent, but small. My wife and daughter shared quesadillas. The waiter didn’t check on us very often, so I had to go steal some malt vinegar off another table. Overall - not a bad experience, but could have been a little better. The view was beautiful.

The food was not great! The crème Brule was gross. I wouldn’t go there again.

The service here was excellent. Incredible breeze blows through this restaurant. For a business that's named after a fish you'd think they would have more variety. Don't come here for the cooked fish. Grab a drink here, enjoy the view and vibe, skip the menu.

The views are spectacular, best part of lunch. Piña colada was too sweet and couldn’t taste the rum. Opakapaka fish was delicious, grilled. Very overpriced, dessert crème brûlée want any good. We went for the fish which is very hard to find. Won’t go back.

Great spot after a day on the beach! They had food and drink options to satisfy everyone in our party from fish & chips to fish tacos, from a Mai Tai to a Pale Ale.

Loved the view, loved the selection, loved the pasta primavera. If I hadn't been the driver, I would have tried a fruity rum drink. Maybe another day.

We were there for lunch and my bf had the fish & chips and I had the grilled local opakapaka with asparagus and steamed rice. I’ve never had the opakapaka but it’s a deep sea fish that is tuna like but white. I thought it was okay but overcooked. The soy sauce dipping sauce made it more tasty. There was also a lemon butter dipping sauce that had no butter or lemon so I didn’t use it. The steamed rice was gooey. The fish $ chip was okay. French fries were tasty.Service was very attentive and kind. Great view of the ocean with added benefit of being able to stroll to the beach after lunch.

I finally found some real gluten free options for the extended family to keep the hanger down now. If you're a lover of sea creatures, welcome to home of some fish options like tacos, ahi tacos and nachos. Happy hour beers were aight, go with the blonde. Enjoy the stories and friendly characters you'll find at this often missed treasure of the north shore.Parking: Find spot. Park in spot.Kid-friendliness: They made virgin drinks for just kids.

Rain or shine, they are open, great chill vibe to catch your breath after the beach, especially when the Kuhio Highway is flooded and you find yourself trapped in paradise on the North Shore!
