We had a fantastic time at the lodge restaurant today! We sat at the bar, and had the best Bloody Mary's ever - pretty much delicious gazpacho with vodka. And the Kalua Loco Moco was absolutely delicious. The kalua pork (versus hamburger) really makes it. And make sure to order the cornbread! We had to take two extra orders to go. Finally, even though they were extremely busy, all of the staff couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. Every other dish we saw leave the kitchen looked fantastic as well. Truly a gem of a place!
Totally worth a stop for lunch if you’re in the canyon! The Kalua pork plate, cornbread, and iced tea were all spot on after our hike. There was also live music (on a Wednesday around 1pm) which added to the cool ambiance.
Overpriced milkshake that's not very good.
We did a day trip up Waimea Canyon and stopped at the Lodge for lunch. Great food and atmosphere! Service was friendly at the counter. Did have to wait a bit for our food, but got to listen to live music while we waited. All good!
If we could have eaten here multiple times, we would have! Great atmosphere, quality food, and killer coffee. Good tunes too.
We almost didn’t stop here! On a tour through Waimea Canyon getting our hike on and we had planned to get food on the way back to our hotel. The plan was to do one more hike so we decided to stop for food fuel and so glad we did!
Love the general store when you walk in, ended up getting some cool bamboo stickers there.
Got in line to order and got to listen to some beautiful music being sung live!
Staff was incredibly friendly!
Food:
Poke bowl : the best one I had my entire trip to Kauai! The veggies and pickled items that came with it were a perfect pair!
Kahlua pork, that extra crisp gave such great flavor and texture! Best I also had on the island!
I noticed there were some cabins nearby so I would consider a stay that way if you want a quiet remote experience! 🫶🏼
What a great pit stop! Delicious food and great scenery. The loco moco was amazing.
Great lunch here at the lodge!
Food was fantastic!!
Had the loco moco, Portuguese bean soup and corn bread and it was the best meal of our trip. Cute cabin feel with board games and a huge coffee drink selection to boot.

Ate and had a drink at the lodge, great food and service!
I had the seared ahi today with olive tapenade, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The ahi was incredibly fresh, perfectly seared, and practically melted in my mouth. The olive tapenade added a rich, savory layer that complemented the fish beautifully — not overpowering, just enhancing every bite. The bar has been set high.
After complimenting the owner, I learned the fish had been caught just the day before, which didn’t surprise me at all. You could taste the freshness — it was that good. Mahalo Nui for such a great treat!
Everything about Kōkeʻe Lodge is 5/5 stars! The location, the views, and the overall atmosphere are absolutely incredible.
That said, our experience was unfortunately dampened by one staff member, an older gentleman who took our order. He made us feel less than ourselves for not understanding the sub-options on the menu. This really weighed on our vibe for the rest of the stay. To make matters worse, he was also very rude to the staff working with him, which brought down the overall energy of the place. While writing this review, I noticed that other guests have had similar experiences, which makes me wonder why this behavior hasn’t been addressed.
On a brighter note, the barista who made my “Mama’s Helper” smoothie was wonderfully kind and brightened the moment! I truly hope something changes, because the Lodge itself is amazing and deserves a full 5-star experience for everyone.
Loved, loved, loved our lunch here. Our favorites were smashed potatoes, papaya salad with seared ahi, and Loco Moco. Everything was fresh and delicious. They also had two very interesting seasonal lemonade slushies (dragon fruit and mango) -- yum! Wish we could have ordered those lemonade slushies again after the trail, but we did not finish the trail before Koke'e Lodge closed.
Gut-check...don't eat here!
