Sweet Potato Kitchen and Bakery

My husband and I had breakfast at Sweet Potato Kitchen and Bakery while exploring the Island of Hawaii. We were excited to have a vegan option on our vacation and it didn't disappoint. Our breakfast was excellent! We started our meal with toast with vegan cream cheese, which was very good. We both had waffles for breakfast, which were some of the best waffles we had ever had. I had fresh bananas on mine while my husband had chocolate on his. We also had smoothies to accompany our breakfast, which were so light and refreshing. The cafe is adorable! We sat right by the window and watched the wild chickens roaming around. It was very peaceful. The service is on "island time." We allotted two hours and still barely made our tour that was right next door. I'd just allow some extra time because the food was amazing. Wonderful haven for Vegan eaters. Susan has a changing menu of amazing creations. Currently, Pizza is on the menu, gluten free and vegan. Even if you're not vegan, if you plan on having at least one plant based meal a week, this can be your spot!

Everything Susan makes is delicious and full of love! Try the new pizza!! You will not regret it!!!

This is one of the best restaurants in town run by a fantastic, energetic, and incredibly welcoming owner. I am not one for vegan food, but she makes delicious dishes that don’t try to be anything else - they are good in their own right. Come support a great local business and invest in Hawi and North Kohala. They now serve incredible all vegan PIZZA! Had it today and would rate it two thumbs up ... and I’m from New York!!!

Restaurant AND pantry. ALL Gluten Free, ALL (delicious) Vegetarian dishes, drinks and treats. It’s actually all VEGAN dishes unless you choose to add a poached egg. Susan is such a delightful energy- be sure to check out her specials board!

All the stars! I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! I came because I saw a photo of split pea soup which is amazing by the way. It was smoky, hearty, and fresh. I ended up getting the Vegan Paniolos which was even better than I expected. I’m not sure I’ve ever had beans and polenta together and now I’m already craving more. The Chai Tea was the absolute best I’ve ever had, I also ordered a chocolate ganache heart but haven’t tried it yet. I know it will be just as amazing.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on the Big Island, and always a must-stop when you’re up in Hawi.

The products are fresh and tasty. The avo-Toast with the homemade bread was simply perfect.

My husband and I were exploring the North end of Hawai’i when we realized we needed an afternoon snack. We walked into the Sweet Potato Kitchen and were glad we did. We had the vegan carrot cake, a vegan strawberry-banana shake, and iced coffee. All were delicious. Our only regret was we were not in this area at meal time.

Really cool option for vegan food yummy mashed purple potatoes. Really unique. The hummus and guacamole with chips were good. The Applejack sandwich did actually taste like pulled pork. Met Vinnie the resident rooster who hangs out there. He was cool n friendly. Maybe because it's a vegan place lol. Good stop for quick bite. Open 930 to 330

Have you ever had a perfectly poached egg? Look at these pics! My wife and I were looking for a place to eat coming back from our ATV adventure when we spotted this place, what great luck, it looks very quaint, not very big but very personal. We loved it just walking in, and The Huevos Paniolos breakfast was the best, I had it with some macaroni and cheese on the side, it was delicious. That homemade bread with those 2 perfectly poached eggs was awesome, the retried beans were perfect....just go here you won’t be disappointed!! Thank you for an absolutely wonderful meal!!
