Good food, nice variety of sushi dishes, priced right. Service is not worth mentioning. Atmosphere?... There is none.

I arrived at 4pm on Labor Day; it was very slow.
A half-empty restaurant but we waited for 15 minutes to be seated.
Ordered. My friend who had a samsung wasn't able to access the online phone menu (the only method to order).
Then we waited for the food. 10 minutes pass. 20 minutes pass. We see some of our dishes zoom past us and to the table behind. 30 minutes pass. only one person got one dish by now.
We press the "call for help" button. Wait for 5 minutes, nothing happens. Press it again -- nothing happens.
A couple more dishes come and zoom past us to the table behind. they were our dishes, sent to the wrong table over and over.
40 minutes pass, we flag down one of the very busy waiters, he writes down the orders we still need to get and goes to the kitchen to submit them.
50 minutes pass, we finally get most of our dishes.
30 minutes after we pressed the "call for help" button, a woman comes to our table and asks, " How can I help you?" We are confused because we pressed that button 30 minutes ago. She leaves.
We finally leave, jaded and frustrated, stomachs barely full.
All I can say is, I'm glad I had a gift card. We all decided we would never go back to Genki Sushi again.
p.s. the waiter who helped us with our food was very kind—the Hawaiian guy whose name started with a K.

I live in a state that is landlocked and gets better sushi quality than this place. Please don’t bother

My first time eating at Genki Sushi by myself. There was a 20% dine in promotion happening. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. Atmosphere was enjoyable, quiet enough where you could have a conversation with someone. I appreciated the menu since there were photos of each of the dishes-no guessing required. Ordered four dishes and enjoyed every one.

it's 4 am. I'm on the toilet. I eat sushi all the time and it never makes me sick. We only got 3 things because we were a little apprehensive after reading recent reviews. I'm glad I didn't eat more or I'd probably be feeling even worse right now. Also, we had a 15% discount code. The cashier couldn't figure out how to apply the code, so he told us he took 15% off of our bill, and asked to write down our code "so he could show his boss in case his boss questioned him". Our bill was still full price, he never actually applied any discount.

Overall, underwhelming experience. One server was great but there was a point where we had to ring the bell a few times to get our waters filled. The food came out quickly and was average quality. Nothing amazing but not too terrible that we wouldn’t go back.
There is a girl with a tattoo arm sleeve that was really sour when bringing us the check and checking us out. Until she saw the tip then she was all smiles, waving and thanking us as we walked out the door. She did nothing but seat us and check us out. Don’t know why she had such an attitude. I wish we could have given the tip to the other server only. So sad she has to share it with other servers. We would have left 1/2 what we did if she hadn’t been there.
Parking: Shares parking spaces with other stores on the strip and the shopping center.
Kid-friendliness: We took my god daughter with us and she enjoyed the food and the way it was delivered to the table. They have kid friendly options for selective eaters.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.

I am so disappointed, Genki Hilo use to be one of my favorite spots to eat. we went to today 07.14.24 (last time I went was about a year ago) and this place has gone down the drain in a year sadly. the food was so horrible my whole family got sick. the service is horrible. they took away the tablets and now you have to use ur own phone. the service was horrible. we pushed the button for help 3 times and no one came. we tried to wave a server down and they pretended to not see. we sat and waited for almost 10 minutes for our bill. the restaurant was dirty. the partition that has the train was dirty and dusty. everything we ordered my daughter kept saying we were catfished because it wasn't even close to the picture (the presentation of the food before matched the pictures) the pictures showed 4 pieces of sushi and we got 3 small pieces. the cone sushi was a joke. I even mentioned it to the server and she made an excuse of oh we are short staff. I will never return to this place and waste my money again 711 sushi is better than Genki. the Wasabi/Ginger tray was kind of scary to use, it was so old and scratched (need to replace) the tempura was a joke, oil was old tasting and gross. the seared ahi was so oily that it kept slipping off the rice. I could go on and on on how horrible this place is. I'm actually surprised they are still open which I'm not gonna lie they will probably close in the next year if the food, service and tables are not corrected soon.

Second time we've tried this place, very disappointing, they were even out of chopsticks... Eating sushi with a plastic fork is ridiculous if you've never tried it! Spent 50 bucks! Very over priced. They don't even offer sake. Staff was friendly. We won't be back.

My family and I used to love eating at Genki. It used to be clean, and the food was consistent.
I regret not taking more pictures of food and the walls near the booths. The walls were so dirty I wanted to leave but I stayed for my family. The kabocha tempura wasn’t cut properly so the thin parts were overcooked and the extra thick cut parts were undercooked and the tempura batter was so thick and oily. I shared a photo of the wasabi/ginger dish because they need to be replaced in my opinion. The discoloration is concerning . The avocado with the ebi was clearly browned and unappealing. It would’ve taken 5 seconds to cut out the bad spots and serve an appetizing piece of avocado.
The customer service was okay. The restaurant wasn’t busy so the servers were able to check out water cups and refill as needed.
Not sure what happened to the management and standards of Hilo Genki sushi but this is not what I am accustomed to and I will not be returning or recommending your location.
