Quite possibly the worst place to get a DRINK. waited 20 minutes staring at the bartender who did absolutely nothing. Security seems to think this is some exclusive club where it takes the entirety of 4 minutes to look at an ID. Security seems to check all the visibly gay male bags but not any females. How you have a line almost out the door for drinks and just stare at people waiting to give you money? Just terrible business.

After spending some time at Lyman Museum, we desired lunch and a Yelp search led us to Hilo Town Tavern. Walking through the entrance we were greeted by a server who also doubled as a bartender. We proceeded to order the following: Mai Tai’s, Jamaican Jerk seasoned chicken tenders (wife) and the Lava burger (me)…both orders with the hand cut tavern fries. Since the restaurant was fairly empty, our orders came out fairly quickly.
Both of our orders arrived hot and were very flavorful. As we enjoyed our meals and sipped our deliciously strong Mai Tai’s, we enjoyed people watching and eavesdropping on the conversations held by locals. Throughout our visit, the server did a great job of checking in on us. If you’re in Hilo and have a yearning for some delicious food and strong drinks, I recommend checking out Hilo Town Tavern. My only regret is that we did not visit during a karaoke night!

Pathetic. One does not need to worry about being over served here, it takes over an hour for a drink on an event night. So much mid opportunity as far as sales… lacks a competent bartender/staff communication. Had to serve myself and they gave away a free marg, that a buddy had ordered at 8:39-it was 10:09pm…

Having a beer, waiting for the next movie to start at the Palace film festival. Manager wanted to take my water bottle to the bar. I said no and she threw me out and called me an entitled white guy and told me to go back where I came from.
Amazing!! The server J was super friendly and attentive!! Even stood by to watch me enjoy the chefs hot sauce! Awesome experience

Incredible bar, definitely reccomend the loco moco it's a mountain of tater tots covered in bacon, onion, 2 smash burger patties, a fried egg, and all smothered in gravy. Definitely not for the faint hearted!
