Food is absolutely delicious and fresh. We can't say how convenient it was to make a phone order and have it ready to go when you pick it up. Everyone there has a welcome mentality and work so hard to make sure they got your order correctly.
Aloha, you guys rock!!!!

Stopped by first thing in the morning to grab lunch for our National Park hike. The food looked and smelled amazing. Very fast service for our group of 6, and very friendly as well. You have options to choose prelisted bentos or choose a la carte for whatever is on display. You know it's a hit when it's the locals lining up. HIGHLY recommend if you're ever in Hilo.

I stopped in today about 10:15 AM and waited 15 minutes to order. When I got to order I asked for three pieces of tempura shrimp I was told there was only one piece left I suggested that I would wait for more to come out. I was told”Our kitchen has closed for the day,” At 10:30 AM ?? Thanks but no thanks I won’t be back

Saw a review of this place on YouTube and thought it would be worth checking out and I was blown away with the quality of the food. The fish was some of the best mahi I have ever had and the spam masubi tasted fresh as if it were just pressed. The chicken was crispy and had an excellent flavor.
The staff here were filled with aloha and I felt very welcomed despite it clearly being my first time visiting.

Arguably the best Okazuya in Hilo. The food is made fresh daily & the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I always stop in at least once when I’m back home for a visit

This is a very local restaurant, and we loved it! They have a display showing all the options, and you can order by the unit to try different things or go for one of the bento boxes with set items. We got a bit of everything! There’s no seating area, but they pack the food really well so you can take it anywhere. Personally, I didn’t love the crab cake and roll, but everything else was wonderful. There was quite a line when we arrived, so it took about 30–40 minutes to order worth the wait!

One minor feedback, shrimp tempura curled up in to a ball inside the batter instead of the usual length of the tempura today, batter is still amazingly crispy. Besides that still the best and tastiest okazuya I’ve ever had. The flavor of the food has been consistent for the 60 years I’ve been eating here. The workers and the customers maintain that unique Hilo friendliness and charm.

Such a gem of a place and I hope they never change! There's so many food options and it's great to be able to pick what you want and try a little of everything. We got a huge box full of fried ono, nori chicken, Korean fried chicken (the best here!!), musubi, long rice, Mac salad, and veggie tempura (SO good). Everything they make us delicious, the prices are so cheap like old-school days. And everyone working there is super friendly. New favorite food spot in Hilo for sure. Good luck finding parking though! Wish they had a lot and not just off street
Went there with my family for a quick breakfast- the line of locals was a good sign. Call in ahead if you want something specific. The long rice was good with the crispy mahi mahi. Affordable grinds! They open at 6am. Picnic style bento option for Hilo town.
If u ino for Okazu..dis place is da bombz 🤙🏼
Kawamoto's DA BOMB!!! Service is exceptional!! Very pleasant and lots of Aloha. The food.... exactly what I expected. Ono Loa! Meike`i!
A very unique restaurant serving bento boxes, seemingly popular with locals and tourists alike. You may have to wait a while yo get your food, but it will definitely be worth it. Once you get to the front of the line, you select what you want in your box from a display case filled with different types of chicken and fish, noodles, sushi, spam musubi, and much more. Everything we had was excellent, and we tried a wide variety of their offerings. The prices were also surprisingly affordable given Hawaii standards and the high quality. Seems like a lot of locals call orders in for pickup, so you can try that if you want to save time, although I preferred the experience of seeing the options before ordering. Either way, you can’t go wrong with Kawamoto’s!
