Spent the day in Hilo and every place I searched said to eat here. We were not disappointed! Fast service and authentic dining. This open air restaurant served the best breakfast. The prices are exactly what you would expect for a vacation island. Would def go here again!

It's a great place to go with family and friends. And enjoy life, it's an old down-to-earth. Good restaurant built-in 1971 and still the same friendly service and great food. Probably the best place to eat on this side of the island.

Chandra was such a cute, genuine server! The crab cakes & the pancakes with the homemade syrups were excellent! We also realllly enjoyed the bread pudding for dessert! 😋 100% recommend
Kens is an old fashioned diner, with booths and counter seating and regular tables and chairs in one section Open 24 hours serving same food so can get breakfast all day and night. They do not like any changes to menu items but they will leave stuff out if you ask. Prices are way higher than used to be, but they probubly charge what lots of places charge.

Good food and large portions, nothing like a black bear diner portions but definitely bigger than I was expecting. However they lose a star because I got a few bits of shell in my omelette. Also it was kinda awkward with payment apparently you're supposed to pay up front but there are no signs and she did take my payment at the table but it was a weird interaction. I've got no problem paying at the counter but put up some signs or have the wait staff say as much when they drop off the check.

Husband and I both really enjoyed our lunch. He ordered a loco moco and pancakes and I had the taco salad. My salad was massive!!!! Only finished barley half and was already too full! Hubs loved the Hawaiian pancake syrup options. We recommend for a tasty, filling meal and relaxed atmosphere.
