This is permanently closed. Don’t waste time like we did finding it. It would be nice if they took down their website so you don’t anticipate you can eat there. Sadly, Covid leaves another dead business in its wake.
This was our favorite Mexican restaurant in Hilo, and one of our overall favorite places. I can't believe they couldn't get anyone to take over, back before covid-19 it was consistently packed.Very sad to see it close!
Ordered dinner to go recently and it was very easy. After calling in the order, they said it would be ready in about half an hour. After driving down to pick up our order, there were about a dozen people there waiting to pick up their orders, too. It was a pleasant experience. The owners had speakers outside playing music while we waited. Everyone was enjoying the music while waiting for their orders. In all, we were there less than 5-10 minutes before we had our food and were on our way home to eat!
Appetizer was nice and hot, but I was disappointed after getting food poisoning from mishandled cold pork (enchilada meal). I’m the same age as the owners daughter so I thought she would have more sympathy. My trip was cut short because I had to recover for a few days and almost went to the ER. I wish I got a refund for my meal.
Vegan tofu burritos are legit. As good as I've seen in California taquerias. Portion size is hearty too.
Food was delicious. The portion size is big. I ate it as lunch and dinner.
Not to be mean but 1st & last time I eat there. Our tacos were so greasy and our tortillas were hard like hard shell tacos. My pozole had beef in it. I've never heard or have had pozole with beef in it. ?I'm full Mexican, and I was genuinely excited to have some Mexican food, so sorry but the food was a huge disappointment.
While it's sad that indoor dining isn't allowed anymore and no outdoor dining is available, the food is still Lucy's quality. A burrito from Lucy's will last most people a meal and half if not two. The quality is always superb and they have excellent vegetarian and vegan options as well as the classics. My favorite is the carne asada burrito, my vegan friends love the kale burrito. Breakfast burritos from Lucy's are soooo good, talk about premium fuel for the day! Highly recommended to ask for extra green sauce on the side. If you miss Lucy's amazing cocktails, they have a menu of to-go drinks! Not sure how that's legal but pretty awesome regardless.
Good Mexican food for Hawaii. To bad they are closing in May 2021.
Seriously the family size burrito is enough to feed my family of 3 for 2 days. We like the shrimp version dry. It does get a bit messy when trying to reheat, but still very tasty and filling.
Restaurantji Recommends
This is by far the most authentic Mexican food I have ever had in Hawaii. I highly suggest this restaurant to anyone who loves Mexican food! The staff are super friendly and family oriented. I recommend the Burrito Grande to anyone with a big appetite!! Love this place!
Had the Enchilada de Lucy. Best enchiladas I’ve ever had. Amazing! Will be back for sure.
I've been served by many employees all which have pleasent personalities. Clean and service splendid Aloha !
The best looking wait people, and they have been and will continue to be the best.
Best Mexican food in Hilo! The carnita tacos and the carnita mullitas are my favorite ???
