Not the best entrees, very bland food sadly. People rave about this place but for me and my partner it was a no sorry you could do a lot better for the price
Ert expensive for that type of restaurant. Service is great food is at best mediocre. Drinks to expensive ambience not good. I'd rate it at a solid 2,3
We had a lovely lunch at sitting at the bar! Shrimp and veggie tempura was outstanding, and Theodora's cocktails were so good.
Chose it because in the past I enjoyed the Beef Sukiyaki. This time it was poor quality: tough meat, overcooked vegetables, unpleasant tasteless broth. Would not return.
The staff was super helpful. I was able to change my reservation count through the app and they responded promptly. The service was excellent. It's wonderful to see when a server is energetic throughout their shift. It really helps the mood of our experience.
This was a great find for us. The sashimi was fresh, tempura the perfect thickness, and the mushrooms were full of flavor, tender, and melt in your mouth. A great selection of sake and my mai tai was so yummy.
Every visit to Miyo's has been stellar. So thankful our rental car agent recommended. Have since been back every visit to Hilo. First time we got the plate dinners. Loved every bite. Portion was more than enough. This last trip we did Izakaya style, ordering small plates and sushi to share. Started out with the appetizer sampler... great start! Added on soft shell crab, misoyaki butterfish, ahi bowl, spicy salmon roll, hamakua mushrooms. Will definitely be back. Can't recommend this place enough for great value, delicious food, always excellent service!
Great experience sitting in bar area. Food was excellent along with service. Ambience is a busy box in strip mall, but full of energy and Aloha. One of the best meals we had during two weeks on Hawaii. Recommend.
Good food
Easily the tasty and best japanese food ever had!
Visited this restaurant impromptu, and felt lucky making that decision!
Highly recommended!

Sushi selection is limited but very good. We did the bento box dinners for $25. Lot of food good price. We sat outside and they made it clear they don't serve alcohol outside have to be indoors but we were willing to forgo it to sit our party of eight. Highly recommend the tempura. Whole family really enjoyed the atmosphere of sitting outside good music pouring out of the bar area and great service.
OMG, That was the most amazing experience i ever had at a bar/high end/ restaurant, I guarantee you, your children, and family won't be disappointed, everything was so amazing, inexpensive, and the employees so polite, respectful, and helpful. I definitely will be going back there when I come back to the the big island, and the drinks, WOW 👌. EVEN THE OWNER WALKED THROUGH TO CHECK ON HIS FAMILY ORENTED BEAUTIFUL ESTABLISHMENT. THAT FRIED OYSTERS WITH THE IN HOUSE MADE TARTAR SAUCE WAS TO DIE FOR, I WANT THAT TARTAR SAUCE TO COME HOME WITH ME.
I had the miso butterfish and okonomiyaki fries and it was delicious
Shrimp tempura udon was light and flavorful. I added some chili oil and it gave it a nice touch. All the tempura was perfectly fried. The staff were friendly and attentive. Also got the soft shell crab which was fishier than anticipated but good. Would come back for the udon.

Reservation was for 6:45pm, seated immediately which was great .... order taken 15-20 mins later, reasonable. Food did not come for LITTERALLY 1 HOUR TIL 8PM? I may be sentimental but quality of the fresh veggies has sadly declined in our last half dozen visits in the past couple years. (We live off island now). The Sesame Chicken will ALWAYS BE A HIT, but sadly overall Miyos is becoming less & less of THEEE GO TO SPOT. Ugh, I guess like most places times change, owners change. Not sure if we will keep it on our rotation of MUST DO Places in Hilo but we wish them the best.
