The food is awesome!! Friendly service and very nice ambiance. A favorite place for locals and visitors alike. One of the best Japanese restaurants in Hilo.

Amazing lunch or dinner, every time!I usually order from the main menu for lunch - rice bowls, bentos, noodles, every dish is well prepared, fresh, and delicious. For dinner I always choose from the izakaya menu and it is delightful. Original recipes, pleasing presentation, lovely service, and affordable prices.Imaginative cocktails to go with the top notch food.

6 pieces of Saba a 1/2 dollar size and belly portion full of bones. No service on cocktails and others who came in later got served first. This place was great at one time but it's a waste of money now it's a joke.

Was amazing both times we went within the same week. Service was good and could have been a little better but the food was delicious. We only tried the Izakaya menu and every item we tried was fire. We are already looking forward to being back on the island to try more of their offerings. Floor on restaurant side was really sticky so cleaning could be improved. Food was so freaking good though… and so was their manhattans.

I ordered the special salad with salmon. This used to be fantastic at Miyo's. I was so disappointed. The salmon had an objectionable, strong fishy smell (and I LOVE fish) and was very oily. The salad itself was nondescript with underripe tomatoes. The salad dressing was still tasty, as was the miso soup., but they are not enough to make me want to return. So sad.

For the amount of waitress and help staff I would have expected better service. They didn't bring the 2nd round of drinks for about 30 minutes and by that time we were almost done.

The service is good, friendly, and exudes local spirit. The food is very good - loved the Oyakodon personally AND the salads are overwhelming in both scope, ingredients, texture, and taste (the dressing is really ono). We were an exceptionally large party and everyone was very satisfied with their orders. The only prob we had was with the sticky floor.

Came here for Valentine's Day and it was great! Food was so delicious - I got the ribeye plate, meat was so tender although small in portion size. Their salad is so yummy - pair it with sesame chicken and you got yourself a meal! Hubby got a bento box with lots of tempura. He loved it. Love coming back to Miyo's!

We haven't been back to Miyos for many years, but thought we would try it again. it was not very busy but the service was pretty slow. The tempura was fine. The miso soup was delicious. Problem is that the appetizers didn't arrive until after we were almost done with our meal. We had the french fries we're not good at all and the cauliflower was just so so. I can't say that it was horrible but I can't say that it was really good. It's just someplace we won't go back.

Ah! Came here for lunch with my partner and it was so so good! They don't even offer fork and knife (you have to ask for them i think), because they gave us chopsticks! That was a first for me and it shows how authentic and good this food is! ?

Our waitress was friendly, however three of us got our food and one person got her food 10 minutes later. Our dessert was served with two of our dinner plates still on the table. We had to ask the waitress to remove them half way through eating our dessert. Not sure if she was new or just busy. The food is always great and we still will return for another meal.

If you're looking for good family-style Japanese food, then Miyo's the place. I ordered the saba plate and the fish was delicious. My husband thought the shrimp tempura was really good. The tempura that came with both plates were great. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt.

I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as I have been here before about 15 years ago and unfortunately they haven't changed. When we first got there I made reservations and unfortunately she stuck us at the bar for izakaya style.I was thinking how come when we have reservations for a table well I figured that we would try it again and give them another chance.I was wrong the food was so terrible that everything looked like they just threw everything together nothing was placed beautifully like their pictures on the website. The service was horrible while we sat at the bar the bartender had an attitude like why'd you come here. The fact that they're was 1 time he asked how everything was but he was more personable talking to his fellow coworkers than anything also since they stuck us with him because I was seated at the end of the bar everytime they kept passing through I would get bumped so I was getting irritated and I asked my guests to please move down. I didn't get any apologies for bumping you. The fact that this is supposed to be a amazing place is an understatement I wouldn't. The food for me what I got was sesame chicken and the shrimp vegetables tempura. The sesame chicken was just cut up chicken katsu with sauce dressed I thought that it was going to be more delicious it was tuff and for the oyako donburi it definitely needed the egg because it was very bland and the sandwich was nothing special. The next time you're in Hilo go somewhere else
