Mohala’s Bayfront Fish and Chips, LLC

The food was good, certainly not the best we have ever had but not the worst. Serving size is smaller so if you're really starving or have a big appetite go somewhere else. The service was atrocious! The young man was confused about the menu, disorganized, inattentive, and absolutely terrible providing service. Had to be asked to take a drink order. Never refreshed our drinks, drink slowly because if he is on that is the last you will get. Brought our meals out at different times and forgot our side dishes. Could go on and on but pointless, time for him to find another job. There is no atmosphere, how can anyone give this 5 stars. 2 stars is being generous. The fans above you are grossly dirty, and while the rest of the place is not as dirty it is far from clean. The kind of place you are glad you cannot see the kitchen. Would not recommend

Came in for the first time even though I've worked across the street for years. I have no idea why I didn't come sooner! Ordered the Fish Pupu with Mahi and tartar sauce. Wish I got the full basket because this is delicious.

Fresh fish, moist and flakey meat with a crispy crust. Tartar sauce has a pickle flavor that normally I would avoid if they had told me upfront, but I really like it with the fish.

Decent selection of local beers on draught, too.

I'll be back!!

Best fish restaurant we found in Hilo. We had fish, shrimp, and scallops with different sauces. All fresh and delicious. The staff very friendly, quick service. We got ours to go for a picnic at a beach.

Mohala’s is the best !!!!!!! If you are looking for fresh seafood cooked to order don’t go anywhere else . The owner is hands on and takes great pride in the quality of both service and the food she puts on the table. The worst I can say is she was understaffed and had a little longer wait but the quality was worth the wait and I would gladly stand in line to get a table . Staff were incredible and friendly. Awesome place if you are in Hilo don’t miss Mohala’s

A Fresh, Bountiful and Just Right deepfried Captain's Platter (easily feeds 2), with requested Extra Crunchy Fries, is a Must - with an ice cold Longboard Draft (or 2).

Atmosphere is Quaint, Place is Clean, the Staff is Most Friendly/Professional/Attentive, Service is Fast, and the Price is Perfect!

My wife and I split the Captains dinner and it was more than enough for the both of us. Very good food, great service and decor. Very spicy cocktail sauce! Scallops were the highlight!

They sure don’t lie about their fish and chips. When I first dined here I was interested in the many fish options they had for fish and chips. They have three to five different types of fish, cod and mahi mahi being two of them. I wanted a more traditional fish and chips so I decided to get cod, but I now regret that decision, and if I ever return I’ll for sure order a more local fish.

Omg... Incredible. This place is tied with Pahoa Fresh Fish for the best fried fish ever. We got the captains platter with ono, shrimp, scallops and calamari. They have a selection of sauces that are all delicious. The fish, especially the calamari was super fresh. We will definitely be back!!

Normally I am 100% opposed to fried vegetables… I got the sweet potato, I didn’t realize it would be fried, I was disappointed, until I tasted it, and OMFG delicious!!!!! I had literally nothing else here, and might not ever, because these sweet potatoes are the BEST. And our waitress was the sweetest 🫶

This place is amazing,,, best spot in Hilo. The fish and chips were so good,, we ate them before we could get a picture. Our #paradisecider blew our minds. Sooo good. We will be back. The atmosphere is top notch too,, wait staff were so nice. Stop here and try it. 🤯
