Mohala’s Bayfront Fish and Chips, LLC

We have been eating at Mohalas since they opened. It has been pretty good, but for a while they have been under frying their fish AND chips. The battered fish is a pale color and the Mahi Mahi was under cooked and wet inside, and the fries limp and soft. I forgot to ask for them to fry the fish to a golden brown, not yellowish like they have been doing lately. We also ordered a grilled cheese which the menu clearly states come with Havarti and Munster cheese. One slice was white cheese and the other orange and plasticky, obviously American cheese. When we asked the waitress about it she got very defensive and high pitched and insisted it was not American cheese, which it definitely was, and told us she does the ordering so she knows. So something is off there with ordering or with the distributor. It might be just the very cheapest cheese Sisco offers but it is definitely not Munster or Havarti, neither is an orange cheese as she insisted. We didnt eat it at all, and she couldn't care less about us being happy at all and charged us full price, with attitude. We didnt make a big deal out of it, but they dont care about customers. Not everyone is a scammer. Too bad, there is a lack of good restaurants on the Big Island.

I will forever dream about those scallops & chips, PURE GOODNESS! The service was slow but you’re on island time baby. Get a beer and enjoy the delicious food.

Mo’s came as a recommendation from our host and we are so glad we took the suggestion. The fish was fresh, perfectly panko battered and the fries were crispy. They even had the volcano live stream on one of the TVs. Definitely recommend this stop for lunch while in Hilo!

Always ono seafood, and friendly service! Love the laid back environment, perfectly suited for Hilo Town. We actually live in Oahu, so every time we can visit Big Island, Mo's is our last stop before heading out. Never disappoints!

Excellent Fish and Chips and we also had the Fried Chicken Tenders with fries. Our tour guide recommended this place and he did not steer us wrong! Everything was served hot and delicious. Great service also. Five star all the way!

The food was absolutely awesome and the staff was so so nice!

Absolutely everything on the menu was a winner. We came on a Sunday where almost everything was closed but this was a godsend! I loved the shrimp whether in a boil or fried. The clam chowder was yummy! Quiet vibe and fantastic food equals amazing.

Very cool place. The staff was super fun and accommodating. Loved the atmosphere. Food was super good. We had the ono fish, Mahi fish, shrimp, fries, and sweet potatoes fries. All were so good. We did see the menu online and were kind of nervous as our kids dont like fish. The online menu doesn't show the non fish items. They do have chicken strips, chicken and waffles ect. I would definitely come back!

Fish and chips shop in a dark bar like setting. Fried food mostly but definitely a step up in quality and this was not the boring fried delivery truck food like you get so many other places. Fried ono and calamari was nice. Staff also nice but spread a little thin.
