Oh man did we luck out! Looking for a place to have a nice breakfast on a Thursday AM. We were extremely fortunate as a "walk-in" around 9:30. Word to the wise, don't do what we did, Paul has to constantly turn people away at the door. ONLY 3 tables for two. Paul is very engaging and has a good sense of humor but the food OMG. My wife had the perfect Belgian Waffles and I had THE best ever eggs Benedict with salmon. Brok dah mouth brah....You must make reservations probably two weeks in advance. This is the number one restaurant in Hilo in my book, serves breakfast & lunch. A total home run....thank you Paul for sharing your amazing talent!!

A cozy and enchanting breakfast and lunch dining spot. Paul is your personal cook and soon-to-be friend. Paul tailored his menu to accommodate our specific tastes and it was delicious. We will definitely return. Make sure you do a reservations as seating is limited.

Paul was incredibly kind and helpful and got my family of 5 in to one of the best meals ever. We had his specials and the waffles and it was all fabulous. We all cleaned our plates! And the decorations for Halloween were fantastic too! Thanks so much!

Such a unique, cozy atmosphere with delicious food and excellent service. All of the ingredients are fresh and food is handcrafted to perfection. We’ve never had such good eggs Benedict or Belgium waffles! Every time we visit we eat every single bite and it leaves us full but not heavy-feeling. Highly recommend! You need reservations so text the phone number to request.

This place lives up to its reputation and then some. Great food prepared one meal at a time by a very talented and gracious chef.

The vibes are great and Paul is a very warm and friendly host, HOWEVER, I am shocked reading these reviews about the food. The coffee is Nespresso pods, the bacon is cooked in the microwave, and the poached eggs were overcooked. It’s all hype and not a foodies dream. But if you’re all for the vibes, cute decor, and feeling special because you got one of the three tables, this is the place for you.

One of the best foodie finds in Hilo! Seating is extremely limited, so you will definitely want to make reservations in advance. You will also definitely want to order the Pasta de Marco, their signature dish. It’s crispy noodles topped with bits of bacon, egg and veggies - haven’t had anything like it anywhere I’ve traveled!

Paul’s place is a gem of wonderful and amazing tastes and tricks.

I had pasta De Marco.
And my wife had eggs Caprese.

If you’re lucky enough to make a reservation to get into this place, it will change your life !🫶

Thank you, Paul !

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious and enjoyable breakfast at Paul's this morning. Warmly greeted, very cozy ambience (loved the Halloween decor!), attentive service, and wonderful food made it easy to rate this establishment a top score. (BTW, make a reservation. We popped in around 7.30 for breakfast, needed to make an 8.30 reservation, so we walked around the farmers market next door, and then returned for breakfast!)

Paul's Place is a bit of an enigma. It's the number one rated restaurant in Hilo, the states second largest city. It has exactly three 2-person tables. It's a microrestaurant. Every time I've visited a half dozen potential patrons without reservations are turned away.  Chef Paul is happily toiling away with essentially a sink, fridge and a hot plate churning out joyously delicious creations with fresh ingredients and perfectly poached eggs paired with outstanding coffee for the few visitors who plan ahead. There are also lunch offerings some of which involve fresh fish. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Paul is very personable and an excellent chef. There are only three tables, so make a reservation.

Paul clearly has a passion for food and people. He was extremely warm and welcoming. We were in food heaven with how fresh the food tasted. We would highly recommend stopping here if in Hilo! He even gave us a free dessert to celebrate a special occasion for us. Would definitely come here again.
