The lady who helped us was very nice. She gave my nephews free sodas and was so helpful talking through the food with us. We enjoyed everything we had: green papaya salad, crispy spring rolls, banana rolls, lettuce rolls, green curry and a tofu appetizer. Her homemade chili sauce was spicy and wonderful! My vegetarian sister was in heaven!

My husband and I couldn’t stop saying how good it was! All of the vegetables tasted fresh and he said the eggplant in his was the best he’s had. All in all some of the best Thai we’ve had. Great service, we loved Sombat and the gentleman there helping at the counter. Great food, everything was perfect and the dessert is a must. I was even impressed it came with a nicer bag to carry it with since we got carry out. It had dine in when we went. There was plenty of parking and it’s toward the road around back like the signs say.

My goodness! What a gem! We ordered about 30 mins before close & not only did they accommodate us, but they even added extras. They were so kind and hospitable. Food was ready fast, even when we added fried spring rolls at check out. I had a noodle dish which was good, average Thai to me. However, the yellow curry was AMAZING. Best curry I’ve ever had and has some special flavor I couldn’t put my finger on (cardamom maybe?). Idk. She also added a tapioca coconut pudding that is the stuff of dreams. So good. Food portions were big. Only feedback is the Thai tea was smaller than I expected, but everything else was 5 stars! Great!

Ordered takeout.Pad Thai was good and had a nice kick (ordered medium spice).Coconut curry was too sweet/tangy for my liking.Spring rolls are skippable as they were only good because of the sauce that came with it.

Frequently take out only! Check the website before you go! The full menu is online and take-out runs about 15-25 minutes. I usually try to order right at 4 for pick up. I love their pad Thai and curries, and the coconut soup and spring rolls are awesome. Satay is on point as well. Not many misses here!! While pricey, we usually get two entrees and an app and that's plenty for two meals for two people. Leftovers heat up well. I would love it if they would switch to more eco-friendly containers, but hot food is tricky!

After a long day exploring Volcanoes Nat’l Park, we were hungry and looking for a delicious and filling meal. Sombat’s did not disappoint! I was bummed to see that they only offered takeout, but I was too tired to keep searching for somewhere else to eat, plus places were starting to close. We gladly ordered takeout and took it back to our hotel. My husband ordered the pad see ew and I ordered the pineapple curry, and we shared the papaya salad. Oh my goodness, was the food ever delicious!! The portions were extremely large - it was the largest papaya salad I’ve ever seen and my husband and I both enjoyed eating as much as we wanted, whereas typically we divide it equally and enjoy a sampling at other restaurants. The pineapple curry had such great, rich flavor and I ate to my hearts content and still have leftovers for another meal. My husband likewise enjoy his noodles and has leftovers. There are plenty of options for Thai food on the island, but I can promise this won’t disappoint and will be an excellent choice if you opt to eat here!

If you're a fan of Thai food, then you simply must try Sombat's Thai Food near downtown Hilo! This hidden gem is a true foodie's paradise, with dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more.If you're up for a bit of a kick, be sure to try the Thai Spicy - it's not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle the heat, it's absolutely delicious! The curries are also top-notch, with just the right balance of heat and flavor. And while the food here is definitely a little sweeter than traditional Thai cuisine, it's still some of the best I've had on the island. But it's not just the food that's noteworthy - the service at Sombat's Thai Food is also top-notch. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find the perfect dish to suit your tastes. And the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with plenty of seating and a warm, inviting ambiance. All in all, I can't recommend Sombat's Thai Food enough. Whether you're a seasoned Thai food aficionado or just looking to try something new, you won't be disappointed by the incredible flavors and friendly service here. So if you're in the area, be sure to swing by and give it a try - your taste buds will thank you!

Ahhhh, compared to other Thai restaurants that we tried (maybe best for Hilo People, not for us), but if you’re from Thailand, the food is okay—overpriced for each serving size. The staff is charming. The bathroom is located outside the restaurant (shared bathroom) in a secluded building which is a bit sketchy.

Incredible Thai food! We had the fried tofu appetizer, the seafood kang panang curry, and the homemade ice cream and fried banana. Everything was absolutely delicious and our waiter was very kind and attentive.Seriously get the homemade ice cream if you go. The coconut flavor was amazing!

We came to Hilo several years ago and we came to this restaurant almost everyday during our short visit. The dishes were really tasty. We visited here again this year after the pandemic and surprisingly we found the prices almost are the same as they were several years ago, considering how much inflation went these years. Again the food was tasty. The only complaint is the rice was a little bit mushy.

Parking: There is a parking lot by the restaurant.

Your food is amazing which makes me a frequent flyer and If it wasn't for the chili which is best In town only I find myself getting robbed every week. I wanted the chili and added the chicken and cheese which I stopped ordering cause I don't ever get it! it's already a small to go container of chili I added chicken for two dollars so you take out half the chili to make the meat fit not fair when I already paid for cheese and haven't gotten it 4x in a row. Your still the best I'm still ordering giving you a 5 dollar tip on a walk so I shouldn't have to go to wendys to get a spoon to eat it but I do. You gotta work on your portions. I wanted the chili asked for chicken n cheese so put it on the side not 3.50 on top of what I paid to fit in that little container. I'm sry I paid 850 for chili it shouldn't be in a tiny flat container even at 750 cause you can't remember cheese it's still mindblowing i come back but it is worth ever StarSo try it
