It's in an industrial area & building. The fried chicken is so good. Lightly battered & perfectly cooked. Everything on my plate was gluten-free. I felt very safe eating here.
Never had karaage chicken prior to this, but I can say with certainty that it’s easily the best way to have fried chicken. The staff is very friendly, and the portion size is good for the price. All in all, I absolutely come here again.

This place has the best chicken, very traditional Japanese style karaage. We have been there countless times and always delicious.
What a find! Crispy, tender, tasty! Their chicken karaage was one of the best I’ve had. Also had their curry and gyu don. Everything was delicious! Also tried some of their sauces and tsukemono. I would definitely come back when I’m in Hilo. They just made one year here Oct 2024…congratulations!
Stumbled upon Tenkatori on accident while walking to a restaurant near by. Ended up going in because of the gluten free sign. The entire staff was great and very friendly. The cashier helped us order and her recommendation was on point!! We got the chicken thighs and rice with sweet and sour, sweet and spicy, and ponzu sauce. The service was QUICK, prices are reasonable, and the food came out HOT and fresh. The chicken was juicy on the inside but crisp and DELICIOUS on the outside. I would recommend and would love to come here again to try something else!

Staff was so kind! Food was bomb, finished before I could take a picture. The curry wasn't to spicy or bland but just right. The chicken and rice were both cooked perfectly. The chicken not dry or undercooked the rice the right amount of sticky. I enjoyed the clean lively atmosphere. Service was fast. Arigato Gozaimasu!!?
This is the best fried chicken on island! Crispy , hot and juicy! Lots of sauce options like spicy miso but I highly recommend the curry flat wings!!

Tenkatori is the best place for chicken in Hilo. Doesn't matter if it's karaage, breast sticks, wings, yakitori, they do it right! If you're craving that authentic tonkatsu, they make that too; just make sure to order early because they sell out fast (they post updates on their Instagram so turn those notifications on ?)! They also have delicious vegetable side dishes as well for that balance in your meal. Overall this is one of my favorite restaurants in town for sure!
