My wife and I came in on a rainy day on Sun, 11/9/25 because there was a 45 minute wait at the Hawaiian Style Cafe across the parking lot. We're gald it was full because we would have never would have found and experienced Tetsumen. It far exceeded our expectations. The food reminded me of the Japanese dishes my Japanese mom made while growing up in San Diego. I wanted to try everything on their menu. Awesome ramen spot in Hilo with a cozy, authentic vibe that reminded me of Japan. Staff were super friendly, and even though there was a short wait (one of the few places open late), it was worth it. The Kakuni Tonkotsu Miso Ramen and Abura Soba were both fantastic — rich broth, tender pork belly, and perfectly firm noodles. The takoyaki was just okay, but the noodles really shine. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Hilo and craving great ramen.
Food and service was excellent here! Came in on a Saturday night around 5pm, party of 5 with 3 little kids. Everything we ordered was fantastic! Sushi, tekka maki, rolls, ramen, gyoza, and more. We ordered a lot. Really Fair prices too, considering it’s Hawai’i. Everyone was so nice. Also- ICE COLD kirin ichiban on draft. Get the spicy toro rolls! Definitely coming back
