Love the food. Hate that they can't figure out how to take an order without making everyone stand in line for 30 minutes. Don't eat here if you're super hungry or in a hurry

With the limited breakfast options in Hilo- definitely recommend a stop here. I was apprehensive to try because of mixed reviews in here but it was delicious. The sourdough French toast was SOO good.
Deserves 5 stars. Delicious food. Great honey Jun. Friendly staff. The Cajun blackened fish was flawless.

I loved their food but was disheartened by the service we received. There was a definite vibe like we should feel lucky to get to eat at such a hip spot.
If they couldn't accommodate us it would have been fine had they just told us. Instead we were given the impression it was no problem whatsoever.
I know it seems commonplace to treat things like celiac, a serious autoimmune disorder, like a joke. HOWEVER, it is a serious issue for people living with it.
People with celiac disease have an autoimmune reaction that can take up to 6 months or longer to heal after ingesting even a small amount of gluten from wheat, rye, barley or sometimes even oats.
So once I ate a couple bites of salad and my mouth and tongue started to hurt I knew something was wrong and found the croutons under the lettuce.
Rather than fix the salad again they removed the ingredient and sent it back out. I could have done that myself. I understand how it might seem safe to do that but it's not.
Crumbs alone will trigger an autoimmune cascade.
They were clearly irritated. One good thing for the place is there's an open window to the kitchen. Which in this case, iIt made it easy to see the chef's annoyance in addition to our server's.
We were paying a good amount for Caesar salads without croutons..which is virtually no ingredients anyway.
Had they just expressed they couldn't meet the request. We would have understood and happily moved on to somewhere else rather than end up w swollen and painful mouths and the vomiting later.
I strongly suggest if you have food allergies or intolerance that you are cautious if you eat here.
Other than that, food is good, booch is good, good music. It is exceptionally loud which can be good or bad depending on your reason for being there. I wouldn't suggest business meet ups here or for people with sensory issues.
There are tables set up outside on the sidewalk which is a little better but it's still pretty loud. They have lovely artwork hanging and the design of the restaurant is nice.
I just want to stress ,what is upsetting to me is the attitude of the staff.
After we left my father called and left a message for the manager who never called us. I wonder if the manager ever received our message.
If you do choose to eat there I recommend the beet salad with rootbeer or hibiscus booch.
I just can't support a restaurant that treats their patrons so poorly over something like not putting croutons on a salad. Who knows maybe they treat everyone this way.
I wish they had returned Dad's call because if so we would have probably returned and continued to buy their booch from the store.

Soo many gluten free and dairy free options, and their menu indicates gf and df! The Jun kombucha on tap, blackened fish, salad, and kombucha root beer float are all fantastic. Note: check their website for the most up to date menu, since the one posted here isn’t accurate.

Since I have to be GLUTEN FREE, I was happy there were a few things on the menu I could eat. But disapointed that they didn't have any GF rolls or bread, which cut my options way, way down. The fish tacos and bibimbop w fish were wonderful, and the GF chocolate brownie was amazing! (I have other food allergies as well, so they cut down my options as well.)

Good kombucha, good food, nice and chill spot with plenty of seating. I liked they had local artists stuff at the front right when you walk in. The gentleman that took our order was really nice. We sat outside and enjoyed our breakfast. Great way to start the day.

Kitschy and hippie bar with a great breakfast menu. Delicious coffee. The brekky Sammy with turkey was delightful. Lots of local art for sale. Lots of vegan options too if you want vegan.

My impression of this place that it's rather a vegetarian restaurant and a kombucha bar, which also offers some non-vegeterian options and beer. It's quite expensive and not worth it, until it's very your thing. It also has very few kids friendly options, unfortunately.

One of our favorite places in Hilo now, everything we get here is good but great to have a really good tempeh sandwich

We typically come here once or twice per week and we love it! They used fresh, local ingredients and they make their own kombucha and Jun. They have outdoor seating and we can bring our dog. They always have a fresh catch (unless they run out). Their coffee drinks are great, and they do offer alcoholic beverages as well, although it does not feel like a bar at all.

We had the conscious burger and veg head sandwich. The tempeh sandwich sounded good but they were out of tempeh. The tomato bisque was the soup of the day and it was the highlight of the meal.
Prices shown on menu online are very outdated. Booch Bar Burger is actually $21, not $15 as posted. Many other items exponentially higher as well. Just an FYI. Food is good quality. Pretty quick service. Interior paint colors scream McDonald's vibes of bright orange and yellow walls. Cool local art on the walls. Other than the bad wall colors, chill vibe.
