I contacted them over a year in advance of a wedding reception dinner I wanted to have at their restaurant after my elopement. They have been super accommodating and friendly in the process of making the reservation and pre ordering. They called the night before to reconfirm everything. The staff at the restaurant were super friendly and on the ball. Food came out quick and hot! Everyone was very impressed with their meals! They keep mentioning it to me how wonderful the dinner was. We order oysters, some maki rolls, the prime rib (so delicious! Perfect cook), teriyaki chicken, mac encrusted Mahi mahi, bread pudding (to die for!), and mudslide brownies. My wife and I were very pleased wofh the whole experience! The waitress also made sure no ones glass was empty and was so on top of things for such a large group. Thank you Seaside for making our evening so special ❤

We found the Seaside Restaurant just outside Hilo whose family has been serving the community since the 1920s. Their dining rooms overlook very large fishponds - in addition to a restaurant they are an aqua farm.
We enjoyed a delicious pair of cocktails (Pina Colada and a Blue Wave) followed by salad (Seaside Greens) and the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi-Mahi. It is served with a Wasabi Cream and Sweet Chili sauce that was delicious. A great night out!

I sat at the bar solo and was given such Ohana attention by the ladies up front. The bar tender Christy is amazing at her skills and so friendly. I had the Hamakua mushrooms because I lived once in Honomu and travelled back to bring my daughter to see family. This dish is probably the BEST dish I've had in my entire very experienced life. Sitting at the bar I was able to have an ocean view and watch all the people come and go who obviously love this restaurant. I did not look around at the dining room so I couldn't rate that part of the atmosphere accurately. The bar itself is spacious and made from gorgeous Koa wood. I chatted with Colin the owner and he gives his restaurant the attention needed and this shows. The lychee martini is delicious & a lovely variety of red wines. I paired the Edamame with the Cab Sav Freak Show. Hats off to a gem in Hilo!

Food was lukewarm and bland. Paid nearly $30 for these 5 quarter sized scallops and indescribable "sauce". Paid for drink refills and even the bread. Nearly $300 for a family of 5. Way overpriced.

The snow crab is a must eat. If you want a native meal, get the aholehole pan fish. Aholehole is only found in Hawaii, and nowhere else in the world.

Seafood is always done right! The host was really nice he told us the daily specials and some recommendations. We ordered the poke nachos and shrimp dynamite roll for starters and the blackened ahi and the New York steak & lobster for dinner. Everything tasted delicious and was cooked to perfection. It did take quite a while for our order to come out and it was a bit loud making it hard to converse. The restaurant is a bit dated but the view of the pond makes up for it.

Restaurant is located across the beach and on it's own large pond in what looks like a large house. Staff are very friendly and treat you like family and answered all of our questions. Also let us know about the daily specials. We opted for special soup of day which was a mushroon bisque which wad rich, hardy and delicious especially with the warm bread rolls they provided.. Also got the Hamakua mushroom appetizer the waitress suggested which was sauteed in butter and garlic - yummy. My wife got shrimp scampi which she utterly enjoyed. I ordered steamed fish - Menpachi - a reef fish that was in a sauce of olive oil and shoyu. Love the fish as had great flavor with sauce. We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert, which comes with a scoop of locally made ice cream. It was divine. Dessert was free as it was our anniversary. Its free for birthday's too. Wonderful experience that I highly recommend. With salad total was just about $100. Great food, location, ambiance, and service. You got to try it.
