Our family of three had the pleasure of touring the Muana Kea Tea farm, nestled at a serene 2000 ft. elevation on the slope of the Muana Kea. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Kimberly and Naomi. We were then introduced to the adorable 7-day old Dolly the lamb, and even got to feed her a bottle of milk (Oh how I miss holding little Dolly!) The farm, with its rows of tea plants and various fruit trees, created a picturesque and tranquil setting. Our guide, Taka, shared with us a wealth of knowledge about the art of cultivating tea. The Japanese tea ceremony in a wooden tea house was a graceful finale that we thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the tour, we had the opportunity to purchase some tea from their shop to bring home. My favorite was the Orchid Dew green tea. Meeting the owners, Taka and Kimberly, and their welcoming family, who exuded genuine hospitality, really enhanced our visit. Thank you Taka, Kimberly, and Naomi for providing such a splendid tour—undeniably one of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.

This tea experience was fantastic, hosted beautifully and highly recommended. As an extra treat we picked delicious juicy citrus fruits as we ambled through the plantation. The owner, our tea guide for the afternoon was knowledgeable and so kind, made us feel very welcome. The tea is excellent ?

Taka and Kimberly have a real gem here. Some of the best tea I've ever had, and so special to drink it in their beautiful tea house overlooking the farm. This is a must-see for anyone interested in tea ceremony or natural farming.

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience. So glad we booked it. The property is beautiful and you can feel the love with which Taka and his family care for this land. The tea ceremony at the end was lovely and left us with a serene feeling and appreciation for the land. Highly recommend

Taka took us on an amazing tour of his family’s tea farm and property where we learned much about tea plants, how they are prepared, and how that preparation determines what kind of tea it is. It was absolutely fascinating and Taka was extremely knowledgeable. We also enjoyed meeting the sheep and trying a variety of fruits growing on the property. After a lovely walk through nature, Taka held a tea ceremony where we enjoyed several different green teas grown on the farm. The tea was delicious and it was a very meditative experience. Of course, I couldn’t leave without buying a few bags of tea leaves to take home myself. I highly recommend taking part in a tour at Mauna Kea Tea!

Mauna Kea Tea was a lovely tour and tea ceremony experience! Taka and his family are so kind, and their farm is beautiful. Expect a slow-paced, meditative experience and to enjoy nature. The tour begins with a walk around the farm and a chance to see, taste, smell, and in all experience tea leaves. The tour concludes with a quiet and restful tea ceremony. We sampled two green teas and an oolong, but were told the teas change depending on the season and harvest. If you love tea and want a mindful and relaxing moment of reflection, this is the tour for you. I highly recommend for tea lovers!

I first had their tea as a sample at an arts & crafts fair in Hilo in 2016. I have since moved back to the mainland and I still CRAVE it. I am a lover of the Coconut Green Tea. I'm a singer and this tea is so moisturizing and soothing. The oil from the coconut pieces are brewed with the tea and I always feel ready to go when I go to my gigs. Add a bit of honey, and this is my daily voice helper. This is my favorite tea in the WORLD. Seriously, buy it.

What an amazing experience! I booked a tour for my whole family while we were visiting the island. The property is so beautiful & it is so peaceful and wonderful just to be there.Taka & Kimberly are such wonderful people and fabulous hosts. We all learned so much about the tea growing process, how it’s processed and the addition of the Japanese style tea ceremony was such a top notch addition to the tour.We loved trying all the fresh fruit growing around the property too! If you want to learn more about tea, and have a blissful experience doing so I would highly recommend booking a tour here!We also all were able to purchase some of their teas to take home with us, such a wonderful souvenir of Hawai’i!

In a word, magical. The two hours we spent there were like walking through a poem of the senses. By the time we left we felt like we'd spent the day at a spa, the experience was somehow relaxing and invigorating. This place is a vibe; nature, good energy, knowledge, and hard work culminating in something incredibly special. Kimberly gave us a warm welcome when we got out of our car and told us Taka would be ready to start the tour soon and their daughter introduced us to the farm cats when we walked through the front garden. It was so sweet and charming, we knew we were in for a great time. We learned so much about tea and very much appreciated Taka's approach to showing us around the farm and to the tea preparation. The tea and the treats were superb. The mochi was especially delicious and Taka also allowed us to graze on some of the fruits growing around the farm. The thimbleberries were definitely a treat. We wish we could have spent the whole day there.

Absolutely loved our visit to this tea farm! We opted to purchase the tour and we are so glad we did! Taka was an amazing tour guide through this experience! The process of growing, harvesting and transforming the raw tea leaves into a refined tea is fascinating. The focus on maximizing the use of natural processes whenever possible is inspiring and impressive. The landscape is beautifully lush and green with a wide variety of trees and plants on the property. Taka explained the process thoroughly and answered our many questions. Touring the property was great fun, but the highlight was the wonderful tea ceremony we shared with Taka. The tea was delicious and the setting was calm and soothing. It was a truly delightful visit! We plan to share this with our other tea enthusiast friends.

This was a great tea experience. My boyfriend and I were so fascinated with the close-to nature feel of the tea growing practice. One can really appreciate the quality of green tea, even if you are like us and not a habitual green tea drinker. The property had breath taking slopes of rows and rows of tea. The tea tasting was authentic and the snacks really hit the spot! If you have a passion for tea and/or sustainable farming this is a definite must!

Excellent green and a wonderful time at the tasting experience. They take you through their hole farm and explain the process top to bottom, what variables are involved and how they think about their production from a holistic stand point. Fascinating way to spend a few hours. These guys are the best!

We had a very informative, unique, and intimate tea tasting experience at the farm, hosted by Ken. He was clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about tea and the tea-harvesting process. We enjoyed great conversation about incense and coffee too, over different green tea batches and mochi!
