Rushed thru the meal from the moment we arrived . A record breaking quick 50 minute dinner . Very poorly timed arrival of appetizers and additional entrees . Food and service was good but does not make up for the poorly managed delivery of food to the table .

Laid back vibe. Creative food. I had the octopus roll and I liked it better than a lobster roll .. and lobster rolls are one of my favorite (the Connecticut ). Service was attentive and friendly. This place is worth driving out of your way to eat here

We had a great time having brunch here at Mud Hen Water. It is an absolute gem here, the food is so good and the staff are super nice. Definitely would recommend checking Mud Hen Water when in Honolulu!

Mud Hen Water offers an intriguing array of small plates, all with very fresh local ingredients -- our server even mentioned our salad greens came from her own garden! It was fun to connect with Oahu's vibrant food scene and get away from the Waikiki tourist desert, where we were visiting during a short warm-up vacation.

This was our first dinner on the island and boy did it not disappoint. It’s certainly out of the main touristy area so I’m here to let you know it’s worth the trip. We had the Lau Lau, sausage and clams, bread (save this for dipping!), and the marlin sashimi. We actually had the marlin first and ordered a second round after finishing our other courses, it was that good. They get it from a market behind the restaurant and I regretted the whole trip not buying more straight from the source.

Very cool place in Honolulu. It was great coming here after we saw it on Netflix’ Somebody Feed Phil. The food is something else, in a positive way. Great taste combinations and very nicely presented. A breath of relief after all the Waikiki restaurants, which just seem to try and get you out asap. This restaurant is something else, go and try it yourself, it’s worth it!

Our family chose this restaurant to accommodate both carnivores and vegans, and this was the perfect choice. Fern shoots and venison shank lau lau--what a great combination! We had a wonderful time at our picnic tables outside with clever cocktails, tasty beer choices, and a selection of interesting family-style appetizers, sides, and entrees. A great place to learn about food items we never would have considered before, but really enjoyed. We will be back!

I never thought I would pay $20 for a cocktail, but the Mai Tai at Bar Leather Apron is worth it. First of all the atmosphere in there is so cool. Everything is dark wood and leather. It feels like a bar from Mad Men, or some sort of secret place. The bartender brought each Mai Tai out in its own corked bottle with smoke trapped inside from Hawaiian mesquite wood. As he poured the drinks he explained the ingredients and how they were made, and the scintillating smell of smoke filled the air. The flavor of this drink brought every cocktail I've ever had to shame. Each sip blossomed with notes I had never experienced before, flavors I couldn't name, and the smoke on the end was just amazing. I also tried a yuzu sour because after that cocktail I had to know more. It was also extremely good and a nice contrast. Wonderful and also a work of art. We did not have reservations for this place; we just crossed our fingers and walked in at 9pm on a Tuesday night. I was told to make reservations ahead of time and this place is definitely worth doing that to be sure you can get in. Best bar experience of my life. Someone all the way in Virginia insisted I go here and get the Mai Tai and I'm so glad they did.

Get out of the hectic tourist scene at Waikiki and come here. Fish sandwich = amazing. CROQUETTES = AAHHHH SO GOOD. Breadfruit? No. I didn't care for that. But I'd eat here again in a heartbeat. Reminded me (in a good way) of Brooklyn.

I have been a fan of Mud Hen Water for years. The food is always perfectly cooked and delicious. Lorena and the other staff are friendly and professional. The atmosphere is wonderful, too. I look forward to my next meal there.

My expectations were high based on reviews but the food was not that unique, they had a different dinner menu than was posted on their website as being current, and the outdoors seating was minimal (picnic tables, windy with no wind breaks, and next to a busy street). We were in Honolulu for a month so ate a lot of places and there are much better choices than this one.

Great food, service, and outdoor patio atmosphere. Started with an amuse bouche . Then 3 tapas and beer was enough for two. We are early so for a space in small lot behind the restaurant. Else it’s street parking (free after 6pm).
