Sometimes a shabu shabu place has great broth, sometimes they have great sauces. Asuka has both!

The taste is on spot and the quantity is just enough. You won't leave bloated like some places. I wish they had chanko on the menu though!

A very authentic place to eat hot pot. When you enter the restaurant you really think you are in Japan - every table is separated, tidy and clean, no decorations. The service is very friendly and accommodating. There are no alcoholic drinks on the menu, but you can bring them with you or purchase them in the shop opposite. The meat quality is very good. The broths are fantastic! Unfortunately, anything that was a little more expensive wasn't available on the menu. (Kobe beef, lobster, fish, egg). We paid $55 per person and were pretty full.

Excellent service. Very polite and helpful servers to us newbies. We got the pork and kalbi set. Wonderful flavor. We liked it so much that we went twice in two days. We might go again tonight.

We showed up @8:30pm for dinner on Friday night. We were greeted by a man walking toward us crossing his arms in a large 'X' over his face saying, "We are closed!" I turned around to leave, but stopped when I remembered what it says online. I turned back confused and said, "Wait, it's only 8:30pm... Online it says you close @10pm?? Why are you closed?"

He replied stating that since Covid they close at 8:00pm... I'm sorry, but it's been 4 YEARS since the plandemic. If having customers is important to you, shouldn't you update the operational hours online four YEARS later??

If we are going to spend money out at a restaurant, it is important to us that we stay in our community and support our small local businesses. It would be appreciated if they would have the courtesy to change their operation hours online so we are not disappointed when we show up to support them, because after this we don't care to return.

Not the best photos because I had been immersed in the hot pot. I really liked the namesake Asuka broth. The sets are very complete and filling. Good quality ingredients. They were really low on staff but doing their best. On a Sunday evening, I saw people turned away, so it’s better to make a reservation. No alcohol served.

Broth is great. Meat is awesome. This is not AYCE, in case you're looking for that.

Super great hotpot near Waikiki. Individual hotpot was great with many different soup bases to choose from. I liked how all of the sets came with a bunch of the key basics needed on the side for hotpot. We had the duck, shrimp, pork, and kalbi and all was delicious. Definitely recommend if you are in the area or are in the mood for some great hotpot.

This place is so great! My mom loves shabu shabu so we came here for her 84th birthday while visiting Oahu. We got three sets (two ribeye and one pork belly) for three adults and three kids. Both were great but the ribeye was the group’s favorite. The sets came with tofu, vegetables, and a dumpling, which was so flavorful. We accompanied the sets with the asuka base and two spicy asuka bases. Both had wonderful, complex flavors. We also got some extra sides to put in the soups. Definitely get shiitake mushrooms if you are a mushroom fan and try the fun kimchi bombs if you like kimchi. The bomb is mochi filled with kimchi and a Korean duk (rice cake). In addition to the great food, the service was just as wonderful. All the staff were super friendly, helpful, and warm. Get out of Waikiki and head a little north to Asuka. You won’t be disappointed.
