I have never heared of this place until someone told me from 76 gas station/service, literally next door to them. When he told me pastele, my eyes lid up!! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED!!! Everything was so ono!! You could tell the pastele was homemade. The food took awhile, and we didnt mind. So worth the wait! Sucks that theyre located in that area. Its hard to get noticed. Their pastele is so much better than the Pastele shop. They also have other foods, but homemade Pastele is hard to get when you just randomly want them! Also they gave macaroni salad, but forgot to take pic. Mac salad was kinda plain though

I went to Auntie Z's Kitchen in Kalihi for the first time and, boy, was I glad I did! Pastele Not a big fan of pastele. Never was. I did try it many times in the past. Multiple times from different places. I wanted to like it, but every attempt i made, was a fail. I didnt care for it. I told myself, thats it, ive tried it too many times, its now fair to say, im not a fan. But when i met auntie Z and heard from many people how she makes really good pastele and as a matter of fact makes the best, i had to try it again, even just one more time. Maybe one last time. And lo and behold, im glad i gave it another try because auntie Z pastele is soooo ono! The taste is so clean, and the texture so smooth. It was so easy and pleasurable to eat! Not too long ago, i made a final decision that pasteles is not for me; today after tasting auntie z's pastele, I am hooked! Thank goodness her restaurant is in my neighborhood because i know for sure i'll be craving it again...like very soon! Thank u. Auntie Z! Thank u for making a believer out of me! LOL! U rock! Hamburger Steak I'm not a big fan of hamburger steaks either. Only because i know they're made with many fillers. It's not 100% beef. So, like many other hamburger steaks I've had, I was skeptical about this, too! But my eldest daughter loves hamburger steak, so I had to get one for her. I'm saving this one for her, but I had to try it. To my surprise, it tasted like real steak that's been chopped into tiny pieces! Like I was eating an actual steak! I tasted the meat - and not fillers! That alone was winnaz! It was half and inch thick, but tender and perfectly cooked all the way. Then the gravy! The gravy was simple and straight to the point, nevertheless, tasty. Not overloaded with flour or cornstarch - and not too buttery! Just the way I like it! Taco Salad Best Taco salad ever! Hands down! Crunchiest and tastiest taco bowl shell ever. It was so flaky and hollow inside just how i like it. The salsa that came witg it was so fresh...u can tell it's homemade and made just minutes ago! It comes with sour cream, too! Cant wait to go back again...and AGAIN! If you're looking for something different, made with high quality fresh ingredients, unique, tasty, and made with lots love with authentic Puerto Rican, Hawaiian, Italian, and local recipes passed on from many generations, I encourage you to go to Auntie Z's Kitchen on School Street in Kalihi. I mean, look at that menu! Plus they have specials all time! They have a great selection of food items to choose from. Lots of parking, too. Go now! LoL! Order the "Manel's Favorite Pastele!" Food is great but ongoing phone problems make calling in take out orders impossible. It's been going on for months.Fix your phone issues and I'll he back. No stars for the frustration in trying to order by phone! Telling all my friends this place lose money! Sorry Aunty Z...sweet lady, need help.

Fist time there. Been passing by there a while. Ordered the beef stew. When we got home and opened the container we were disappointed by the serving size. We were like they sure they could afford this! The Mac salad had no taste. We were going to order two plates and was glad we didn't. Never going there again!

I ordered the pesto pasta with chicken, and I was kinda blown away by the chicken. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the pasta was subtle enough to let the chicken by the star of the dish, but flavorful enough to not be plain. Honestly spectacular. I’m excited to come back and try more dishes.

I love this place!!! I feel like I’m at my Auntie’s house for real!!! The food is so good!!! Her menu has a little bit of everything!!! The good thing is no matter what you order guaranteed is gonna be Ono!!! You must come and try!!! You won’t be disappointed!! At least for me everything I have tried has been so good!! Birria tacos better than the hoity toity place back home! Auntie Z knows her tacos. And her grilled cheese, baby. I had just gotten sick on my first scuba dive and needed to settle my stomach. These ladies took such good care of me!We want to come back and bring the kids when they have their live music going! Auntie Z plays bass...so excited!
