This is not the best banh mi I have had, but it is the best food I've found on the UH campus, especially when washed down with one of their delicious Vietnamese ice coffees. One extra star added for keeping the banh mi price under US$10, and for providing a decent affordable lunch amidst Honolulu's atrocious pricey food scene. Closed Saturdays and Sundays, or else you'd see me there on those days too!

Great place when on campus. Simple pho to fuel your workout. Dining area is clean, staff is very nice and efficient and great value for your buck relative to other spots in the area.Don't expect a lavish bowl of pho. It's more of a food court vibe.

Unfortunately beef pho is not very flavorful. Also hard to get to if your off campus.

I found hair in my soup. I phoned and spoke to male staff who asked me to bring back the soup and it will be changed or give us a credit. He declined to have it delivered or send it via door dash. How can you not make way to deliver the food to a customer who was disappointed. Soup with hair is compromising food hygiene and no good customer service .
A good option when on campus. I enjoyed the tofu rolls. Offers a daily special, plus the usuals.

Vegetarians beware!!! This location is NOT vegan or vegetarian friendly!I ordered their tofu eggplant curry. The menu did not indicate there was any meat in it. I asked the auntie that was serving it and she may have not spoke enough English to understand what I was asking, which is not her fault. The menu could have just stated it had meat in it to avoid confusion. There were definitely small chunks of meat (possibly pork) in the curry. At first I was excited to see a veg-friendly item on their menu but I’ll never eat here again. I quickly lost my appetite and got sick from unknowingly eating meat which is not part of my regular diet. ? Usually Vietnamese food can be pretty veg-friendly but this place is run by Filipinos, so it’s definitely not authentic and it’s most definitely tainted with unknown types of meat. Given my experience I highly doubt their “veggie” pho broth is meat-free.
Lower your expectations, they are consistently disappointing.

For healthy food on campus, this is the place to eat. Very good food and affordable prices. I will also add that you don't pay tax on your food as well. The menu is smaller than your BaLe outside of campus but still the most common menu items are sold. There is beef, chicken or tofu Pho to choose from your favorite Pho dishes. They even serve milk tea if you're craving that on campus.
Hygiene
I love their vegetarian stir fry! I have to limit my sodium intake, and this dish gives me the flavor I need without a lot of salt.
I personally love the Turkey Sandwich on croissant with extra daikon. Some of my other favorites are the rice cake and shrimp rolls. Their service is amazing and I highly recommend.
Ba-Le Sandwich Shop has been around for years, and has a loyal following. Food was ok, service was ok.
