The owner repeatedly abused his position by inserting himself into conversations that weren’t his business and harassing me on multiple occasions. When I didn’t engage, I was treated like I wasn’t welcome anymore. I was only there because of friends anyway, so no loss — but it’s disturbing behavior from someone who controls a space meant to feel safe. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional.

That said, the staff who work here are genuinely amazing, kind, and professional. It’s honestly sad that they have to deal with this kind of management behavior, because they deserve much better.

Bacchus has been a staple of the LGBTQIA+ community for many years. It was recently sold and upgraded with better interior and sound. I love that this bar genuinely feels like a community hub for socializing. There’s a lovely balcony outside where you can have talk with your friends and people watch. On weekends there’s a DJ and the place can get crowded (especially on First Saturdays for their underwear night).

The crowd is a mix of locals and tourists. Everyone is very friendly and you will definitely have new buddies by the end of the night. Staff is friendly and generous with their pours (they call it a gay pour for a reason!). Selection of alcohol is good but I never order anything too complicated.

Highly recommend!

I just needed a drink and this place was a few hundred yards from where I was staying. Super friendly bartenders, super friendly clientele. Drinks were cheaper than most other places around. Made this old straight guy feel right at home.

A really wonderful gay bar in the heart of Waikiki. It’s a local haunt, but welcoming to visitors. They have trivia on Wednesdays which is super fun. The prices are affordable, and love the outdoor lanai with seats to watch the sunset, or watch the moon rise.

Not nearly as friendly as in the past, and 86'd many many liquors unless you drink Tito's

Don't know where some of these other people went, but couldn't have been the same place. We went on a weekday afternoon, not many people. Despite that, the bartender only talked to us when he noticed an empty glass. From everything we observed locals were greeted warmly and engaged in conversation, but they need to up their people skills for visitors. Drinks were average at best.

One of the bartenders was extremely rude to me and my friends. When talking about this later with a local, we found out that Bacchus has a bad reputation. Don’t come here !!

Night was going ok until I saw an older man fall down the stairs and bust his face open on the pavement at the bottom of the stairs. Staff was too concerned with cleaning up the blood to call 911 or provide water or assistance to him. Threatened to throw us out for pointing out that they should absolutely be attending the fall victim before bringing out a hose to wash blood away from the scene. Whole thing was HELLA shady on their part. Then I got jumped a block away, I'm sure it was a coincidence. Zero stars TBH

Ugh, so I showed up at 12:30 AM and didn’t get in at all, after 1 AM. They were shuffling people in and out right in front of me, while me and a few others just stood there. Then the queer guy at the door tonight switched his story, first he said they were at capacity, then he said “if the owner doesn’t want anyone else inside, nobody gets in.” I said let me talk with the owner, he said he is around here walking the dog, I wasted a solid 30 minutes waiting. don’t bother coming before 12:30AM, you’ll just get stuck outside if he wants.

Great place to get drinks and hang out. Hadn’t had a Jell-O shot in a long time.
