Had breakfast here before we decided to take in a movie upstairs. The breakfast was very good came out hot and the service we didn't have to wait along time for the food and drinks. This breakfast was cook to perfection spam not burnt unless you wanted it the scrambled eggs were not wet and the hashbrowns was good. All in all the breakfast was great will be back again if we are in the area again

I've been to BCD many times, but this was my first time ordering take out for breakfast! Flavor is so good. Ordered the big breakfast, which came with 5 pieces of Portuguese sausage (upcharge for this type of sausage) , eggs, and fried rice (also an upcharge). Also, 2 Keiki pancake breakfasts (which for take out, there was an additional charge of $1 per breakfast). Food was ready pretty quickly which is good. Parking at this location can be little difficult, so if doing take out, it's best to have a second person with you that can just run out and grab the food.

Love that Big City Diner supports our community in so many different ways. We always make sure to visit during the month that they support Make-A-Wish Hawaii. The french toast is the bomb.

This was our first time coming to this location. The reason why we wanted to eat here was because right after we planned on watching a movie. I am giving this location a two star rating because the staff were nice and the food was good. Now, I am only giving a two star rating because we waited FIFTEEN MINUTES for someone to take our order. My other half had to get up from our table and go and ASK someone to take our order. That someone happened to be the manager who just saw his waitress walk right pass my husband. He was nice enough. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was very good. During our meal NO ONE came to check on us. NO ONE came to ask if we needed anything or if we wanted any other drink. We were served our coffee and a juice for our son when we were first seated. But that was it. I'd like to point out that it wasn't busy. We got there just before lunch so there wasnt a lot of people just yet. There was only 6 tables occupied and we sat by the kitchen, right where the waiter would come to get other meals. So we really couldn't have been missed. It was unfortunate. We love Big City Diner for the food and the customer service. We usually go to the location on Waialae and figured we would get the same quality of customer service no matter the location. The food was really good and our son really enjoyed his pancakes.

Super disappointed! But first, I must say that our Server Rosa was AMAZING! Sp I like to order Mamasan's meatloaf & substitute a veggie burger for the actual meatloaf until today, I NEVER had an issue with this. Today, however, was a different story. Long story short, the kitchen manager refused to do the substitution so Rosa did her best to order everything ala carte, but no one came to tell me there was an issue. When my plate came, it looked pathetic: 2 naked veggie patties & a scoop of mashed potatoes on a stark white plate with a small bowl of gravy on the side. I commented to the gentleman who brought our food that this isn't what I ordered and he basically said that this is what was ordered & walked away. My husband asked Rosa to come over and she explained what happened & said she'd send the Manager over. Well, low & behold, the man who brought our food came back to see us. Apparently Lane is not only the Manager, but the owner. He was full of excuses and really couldn't be bothered with us. Rosa came back to see how it went and we let her know how RUDE & uncaring Lane was. Rosa was super sweet! In the midst of all this, she saved the day. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ROSA! Ward BCD is lucky to have you!

Let me start off by saying, that I really don't usually like to use Yelp Reviews to leave negative comments since one bad experience doesn't necessarily mean the business is a bad place to go. But, since this is at least my third negative experience at this location of BCD I think it's about time to post some honest feedback. I came here with a friend to grab dinner and immediately began experiencing sub-par customer service, with the "highlights" occurring in the following order. 1) We walked in and had to wait about a minute before we were even greeted. A group walked in after us (by about a minute too), had no reservation, but was recognized by one of the waitresses and was seated first!!! Meanwhile we had to wait another few minutes before we were even seated. 2) I ordered a drink (in addition to water) and went the entire meal without receiving it. I know some people may say I should've asked for it again, but is it really a customer's job to be reminding servers about what was in their order??? My friend and I each order one entree, and I ordered one drink. Not the most complicated order to fulfill. 3) When we were done with our meal and the check came it, of course, included the charge for the drink I never received. I pointed this out to the server who apologized and went to adjust the bill, but when they came back pointed out that the coupon we were trying to use had a minimum $30 spend requirement...which was now no longer met because we didn't want to pay for the drink I never received. I mean seriously?!? They made a mistake in fulfilling our order, and now we're also being penalized because of that??? 4) Last, but not least, not even 10 seconds after I signed the bill and had it in front of me (far from the edge of our table) the server actually came right back, during the middle of our conversation, and asked if we were done so they could pickup the bill... This was perhaps the most prompt and on time task completed during our time there, but in very poor taste. It was as if they assumed because of all of THEIR poor service, that we would be leaving a minimal tip and therefore we should be rushed out. I enjoy the food, atmosphere, and local friendly service of the Kaimuki/Waialae BCD, but if you're looking for that at this Ward location - think again. As I mentioned I don't usually post negative reviews, but since this is only the most recent in a string of bad experiences at this Ward location I feel enough is enough. Needless to say, I WILL NOT be going back to this BCG again.

The Ward area diner is a good local place for breakfast before shopping at the many shops or catching a movie at the near by theater, 16 Plex. There's a lot of parking, free or valet. Sometimes you may have to park farther away but a little exercise is good. The menu selection is good with local favorites for lunch and dinner. Breakfast has local stuff too. I had the 3 eggs and corned beef hash for under $13. It came with the potatoes and fruit also. If you go to Costco and get the $100 Big City gift cards, out only costs $80 for the cards. I also give the cards away for Christmas or birthdays. This is a good value. The servers are pleasant and helpful, always ready to fill your bottomless soft drinks. This is one of my favorite places. And no I don't work there, lol.

My husband & I walked in Sunday night around 6:45 & waited for several minutes. There was no greeter & no staff member acknowledged us. So we waited a couple more minutes then left. Thumbs down for service.

So this review is for Happy Hour only! I recently dined at Big City for the first time in yrs because I was headed to a movie and saw a Happy Hour sign. The way it works is Happy Hour is 3pm to 6pm/ Mon - Fri. As long as everyone at the table orders two or more drinks (either alcoholic or nonalcoholic) you get 50% off all pupu's except the pupu platter. The Appetizers were absolutely delicious. We got the chilled tofu, wings, garlic fries, New York pupu steak, and soybeans. The wait for food was not long and everything was really good. We had 3 li hing margaritas ( weak but delicious) and a corona for the bargain price of $52. I've been to better Happy Hours but all in all this was not bad. I also thought the service was excellent from Chris M. He was friendly, didn't forget to give last call on Happy Hour and did his best to answer all my questions. The questions he couldn't answer he went to ask so there was no confusion. The star off is because the margaritas were so weak and they were the most expensive part of dining. If your in the area between 3-6 on mon - fri not a bad place to stop and grab some food and beer!

Got the veggie burger with teri-sauce and it was ok. I'm not sure what brand of veggie burger they used, but it was a grain-based burger kind of like Morning Star. It was ok, but I wish they grilled it, the patty was kinda mushy. They should upgrade to Impossible or Beyond Meat. The fries that came with the burger was the most dissapointing part of the meal because they were over salted and I couldn't eat them. The highlight of my meal was the Guava Margarita on the rocks. It wasn't strong, but it had a really nice flavor. The server was helpful and pretty friendly.
