My 3 adult children had THE BEST time surfing with Pauly. He was very patient, explained well, and instinctively knew which waves to push them into. They were in a group with one other person. Remember to bring a long sleeved water shirt because the boards are rough…we didn’t have them, so we paid $5 each to use one of theirs. I highly recommend!

The instructor was amazing! This was my first time surfing and I was definitely not ready for the amount of paddling. The instructor was a true hero for helping me with directions, support in the water, and clear cues for when to do what. Although very tired, I really enjoyed my session.

Great experience with John. i recommend to book early as they do as well, with the tide being higher and less chance to hit the reef.

Absolutely terrible!!! We booked a reservation only for them to cancel it without explanation. We called to sort it out, were told everything was fine, rushed over there, and when we arrived they claimed we didn’t even have a reservation! Completely unprofessional and a total waste of our time.

Best surfing lessons here. Paulie and Josh were both great and very friendly. Highly recommend

It was one of the best experiences to take a surf class at Big Wave Dave surf and Coffee, it supposed to be a group class but I ended up being the only one to sign for the class, so we had 2 hours of practice in the ocean! We saw a
few turtles while on the way and I’ve stand up few times learning how to balance in the board! I’ll definitely will recommend it!

The only thing my 16yo son wanted to do at Waikiki was surf. We found Big Wave Dave's while looking for coffee and breakfast, which I might add the McDave was amazing. We signed my son up for small group lesson and I was a little nervous about sending him out. The staff was great, it was super easy to sign up, very laid back, and by the time they left for the water I had no worries. My son had a blast it was everything he could have hoped for. The next day we went back and they remembered both our names and got him signed up to rent a board and go out on his own. I cant' thank everyone at Big Wave Dave Surf & Coffee for helping make our vacation great.

I had lessons with Cody today. It was my first time surfing and I am hooked! Cody was an awesome instructor and got me up on my second try. Highly recommend!

Cool shop. Had an issue with a broken zipper and they handled it super well.

Paulie was the best! Helped me get up on my first fave, and everytime after that. Wish I had more time on the island to do another lesson. If you’re looking for a lesson, 100% ask for paulie!

We were really disappointed with our surf group lesson here. The instructor was pretty late, and when he arrived, he was grumpy, gruff, and abrasive. His instruction was difficult to hear over the waves and he refused to speak louder or yell when asked.
