Great concert, nice staff, amazing drinks. We will be back!
I've seen Chrisette Michele and Raheem Devaughn and both artist put on an incredible show. The venue is intimate and nice. There is no bad seat in the venue because your view of the artist will be good. The venue is first come first serve so I recommend arriving early to select your preferred seating arrangements.
The food in my opinion is however over priced but hey, you get what you get.
Otherwise great venue to see your favorite artist.
Great Band The FunkRDelicks
I am extremely disappointed in Blue Note Hawaii for hosting a musical ambassador from Israel, whose objective is not only to share his music but also to disseminate a false narrative about the victims in Palestine. Of all places to promote the false narrative that Israel is the victim in the conflict and genocide that’s happening in Palestine when they’ve been the perpetrators the entire time!!! Well before, during and after Oct.7th!!! Those insincere expressions of sympathy Israel wishes to receive and express will not be effective here in the illegally occupied nation of Hawaiʻi. Do better Blue Note!!! No one is free till Palestine is free!!!
I am truly disappointed to write this review, but I feel it is necessary to help future visitors set realistic expectations. We live on Oʻahu and have had the opportunity to visit this venue many times over the years. What follows is based on repeated experiences:
1) VIP Tickets
On several occasions, due to large crowds at certain concerts, the ushers acted as if they either forgot or ignored the fact that our tickets were VIP. More than once, we were offered basic seats, and only because we knew exactly which seats were reserved for VIP did we correct them. Not once did we receive an apology for the mistake.
2) Food
I hope the chef reads this and reconsiders the consistency of the kitchen. One evening, the rice was so dry it felt as though it had been scraped from the bottom of an almost-empty pot. At Esperanza Spalding’s concert last night, my salmon (a tiny portion, about 3” x 1”) was so heavily salted that my mouth was burning from the sodium. In general, the food swings between being extremely bland or overwhelmingly salty, with no balance in between.
3) Service
The waitstaff rarely offered dessert, and we often had to flag them down just to request a refill. Considering that the tipping baseline starts at 25% and up, the service does not reflect the expectation of that standard.
4) Brand Quality
The Blue Note experience here is not at the same level as on the mainland. The programming features a heavy emphasis on stand-up comedy, with true high-caliber jazz performers being very rare.
The perfect environment for your favorite artists!
Go for the show, not the food. We have visited Blue Note many times. One time, we ordered dessert when we arrived before the show, then did not get our dessert until about ten minutes before show ended. This most recent time, the menu has changed. My husband and I literally wanted nothing on the menu, but we did end up ordering the truffle egg salad appetizer, which was overwhelming, but ate some of it. The main courses have zero seasoning on them and I thought I was transported to a nursing home for dinner. After they set my plate in front of me, I was suddenly surrounded by tiny flying bugs, which also landed in my food. We ordered dessert, which I only ate whipped cream, as the macadamia nut ice cream was not so good. The man in front of us sent his food back. The sound at this particular show had lots of feedback.
I love going to the shows there. Definitely not for the food . Not a lot of options for food. And what they do have is super expensive and just so so. My husband and I ordered Pita bread with hummus. For $18 dollars and that gave us 3tbls of the hummus and a half a pita bread on the plate. ( Not an exaggeration! A half of a pita bread) To dip with. So there's that. I suggest filling up on delicious food elsewhere and spend your 20 dollar minimum on the drinks.
The food here is a joke. $30 for ‘mushroom’ pasta which came as a RED sauce with 4-5 slices of portabellos and that’s it. Zero cheese, zero flavor and zero mushrooms. It tasted like Preggo without even cheap Parmesan on top or an ounce of seasoning to try to salvage it. It was suppose to have truffle oil but it must have been sprinkled on as you couldn’t taste any of it. It was super bland dish you could make better at home while drunk. Oh also there were two different noodle sizes… clearly a talented kitchen.
If you can ignore the overpriced terrible food, the venue is actually really nice for the performance and the wait staff was working really hard. Our server was great! Maybe eat before and just order drinks.
Went see Tommy Davidson it's a beautiful place

Saw tribute band “Fleetwood Mask” which was pretty awesome. The 3 stars is for Blue Note - purchased premium seats for 2. Since it’s not a large venue, another couple shared our table which was fine. They seemed short staffed with all of them running around throughout the performance. My husband went to the bar to get our 2nd drink. Waitress also combined our table bill into one and then had to separate it out. The other issue was it was very warm and uncomfortable. We’ve been here many times and it was never this warm. Blue Note really needs to keep the A/C cool !!!
Visited Blue Note for the first time and had a wonderful time. Will Burkhart was the headliner and food a great job working the crowd. The venue itself was comfortable. Mixed drinks were about $19, beers were around $10. Would love to come back the next time we're back in Waikiki.
Very fun place to see the best Hawaiian band in an intimate setting. Food was ok but drinks were great. Service isn't great but its pretty difficult with a band playing and people dancing and singing everywhere. But the food isn't why I went here. Bathrooms are super tiny so you have to be patient.
Good music. Poor service.
Thank you blue note to get does artist saw Pat Metheny genius and so much emotion into is music ..
