I found the restaurant atmosphere to be lacking, especially with the orange tables.
When I go to a restaurant that I would describe as a “hole in the wall,” I expect the food to be quite good - and ideally more affordable too. We did not find the food to be particularly of good taste, either, including the poi (and we have eaten it before). The menu was illegible, and the pictured portion sizes were misleading. I thought the portion sizes were expensive for what we got.
On the positive side, though, the man running the restaurant (presumably the owner) was friendly to us.

My husband found this restaurant on Google as he wanted to try some authentic Hawaiian food. Waited maybe 5-10 minutes before we were acknowledged (the restaurant was empty). Food came out quick & was tasty. I didn’t feel good later in the night but am not sure if that was related to the food or not
I received the Kalua Pig Hawaiian Lunch plate. The coconut jello and purple sweet potato were awesome. The lomi salmon was good. However, the Kalua Pork was overly salty to the point it was almost inedible and the rice was on the crunchy side. With the ratings it had, I felt like the food would’ve been more consistent.

Unfriendly service with small portions for a large price. Only people in the place and the food was cold. Would sadly not recommend.

Delicious local Hawaiian food! I had a laulau plate, served with rice, salad and desert with purple taro and delicious coconut pudding. Very nice stuff that was happy to answer my questions regarding the food.
The restaurant itself is pretty small, but has a nice vibe.

This is always my first stop from the airport when I come into town.
Update: The original owner retired but the new owners got the recipes. The food is still great!
Only thing missing is pipikaulā!

Well priced traditional food; just one guy there and he was really nice. Clean washrooms and we had no leftovers! Which is very rare for my family; so portions were perfect.

We came here originally in 2004. We came back again in 2018 only to find out they closed. Fast forward 7 years, we are back on Oahu and I drove right past Da Ono and they were still up and running?!?
We came to the restaurant on a Thursday night about 730pm. We were greeted with a smile. The restaurant was empty so ample seating. We ordered on the A La Cart menu. Our dishes were Pork Laulau, Kaluha Pork & Cabbage, Salmon Lomi Lomi, Poi, Mac Salad and Beef Kalbi Short Ribs. Everything was just as we remembered it! 🤤🥰 So happy to be back!! The Lomi Lomi was fresh and just the right amount of salt. The pork Laulau and Kaluha Pork were both mouth watering! Kalbi... Tender and juicy. My husband loves poi (me not so much) but he enjoyed it with every bite! Mac salad was good too! Everything on our dinner table was so satisfying.
Thank you Da Ono for bringing back the OG foods we remembered and loved so many years ago! You have done Auntie Vicki proud!!
Come by this place... You will not be disappointed!!

A really amazing place for great Hawaiian food. My wife got the Kalua pig plate & I got the Laulau plate. Both were really tasty! The the Kalua was very well seasoned, while the Laulau was very juicy & tender. The server did a great job answering our questions about the food & even gave me a sample of poi to see if I wanted it with my plate (I did get it & enjoyed it). He also was very attentive during our meal making sure our water was always topped off. Highly recommend.
